Dylan Ratigan needs to GO - is anyone watching???
He just told his guest to shut up and then sat there and argued with him.

He said 'Who's show is this?' - what an ass! Total lack of professionalism.

Dylan, keep your temper tantrums to yourself.

3. You have to shut down Republicans or nothing gets discussed
After the last 10 years that should be obvious.

5. Good - he should do that - but not like you would if that repub was sitting at your kitchen table.
He has a show - he needs to act like a professional - that's just my opinion - I see another thread taking the opposite view. That's what makes DU great :)

7. Since Msnbc hired him - why?
I watch him, just not a fan. I much preferred Schuster over him.

10. Because he's been being "unprofessional" (in your words) for years and is
most famous for not taking any shit on CNBC before being awarded HIS OWN SHOW on MSNBC.

I like what he does.

9. I agree with you. He could have just cut the guy's mic and let
Capehart finish his point. By dominating the last few minutes of the segment arguing with the guy, all he did was come off like a bully and Capehart didn't get to complete his comments.

14. Not sure what you mean. My point is that Capehart didn't
get to finish either because the time was spent arguing instead.

Yes, I think a host has the right to cut someone's mic when they deem it necessary. I would actually prefer it to arguing.

20. Well this time he laid down the rule. It's HIS show. HE decides who
talks and when. He was letting this puke know that if he doesn't understand that, he's welcome to not come back on the show.

Bravo.

21. Let's agree to disagree. IMO, the guy wanted to shut down what
Capehart was saying by interrupting him. Instead, Ratigan did it himself by arguing about his rights as host and eating up the remaining time. Either way, Capehart's points were drowned out. Mission accomplished.

12. He just did what I've been wishing others would do
for a long time now. When a repub starts spewing talking points and speaking over others, the host should step in and say something.

This was not like O'Rielly or Hannity where they ask for a response and then shut them down when it's something they don't want to hear...this was interrupting someone else that was answering a question.

I'm not a Dylan fan, in fact I usually change the channel on him, he gives too much time to the tea people...but I think he had every right this time to do what he did...

15. What "professionalism???"
What fucking "profession" are these pundit clowns supposed to be involved in?

They're all throwing tantrums non-stop. You're asking for "professionalism" when there isn't even a clear or conceivable "profession."

19. each host is different but
I use the following rules, 1. never invite a guest that I can not engage in conversation. 2. Guest or callers don't get into an overtalking contest with me. I will listen to them but when we both are trying to talk at the same time and nobody gives in, then it is mute or cut off time.

and many of them do not bother, and I do not respect those hosts. Chris, for one.

23.  I've watched Ratigan cut off guests who won't answer the question that was asked.
He interrupts and repeats the question. If the guest continues to try to change the topic, Ratigan interrupts again. Asks the question again. At that point, the guest has a choice.

I approve of DR's handling of unresponsive guests.
