A reporter just told Thom Hartmann that Justice Ginsberg has had
fairly recent chemo for pancriatic cancer. The reporter, Elen Rattner, said she hadn't heard about this before and it may mean that Ginsberg will retire early.

1. I guess 18 months ago could be considered recent.

2. I'm surprised that Elen Rattner hadn't heard that,
considering that it was all up in the news! :wow:

3. I thought the same thing when I heard Ellen, but could it be that
what she was talking about is more recent than that?

4. Pancreatic?
How reliable is the source because that is never good.

Is it wrong for an atheist to pray?

7. Known since Feb. 2009.
The pancreatic cancer for which Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had surgery on February 5 has been determined as TNM Stage 1 by doctors at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. All lymph nodes proved negative for cancer and no metastasis was found. In the procedure Dr. Murray Brennan, the attending pancreatic surgeon, removed the Justice’s spleen along with a portion of her pancreas.

5. Ginsberg is a fighter.
She has one of the nastiest cancers and has pulled through surgery and chemo and recently buried her husband. She looks fragile but, she's a rock. I wish her the best.

6. I second the post!
She is a fighter, coming up through the ranks at a time when women were still expected to be baking cookies at home. She's one of my favorites! I, too, wish her the best!

8. Maybe next summer. The Justices that want to be replaced by Obama are taking turns.
Souter Spring/Summer 2009 = Sotomayor

Stevens Spring/Summer 2010 = Kagan

Ginsburg Sprint/Summer 2011? = ???

10. But we will still have a Democratic President. People have said that Obama was keeping Garland
as a potential nominee in those circumstances.

Kagan was supposed to be a safe choice and even she is going to get very few Republican votes.
