2. All of them need to be, along with her
Her gaming of the system disgusts me, but I'll give her credit: she was visibly upset at her remanding, but was polite and stoic, and observers say she was cooperative with being handcuffed.

Bush would probably cry.

frivolous? Because whether you like her or not, Sarah Palin is a legitimate topic of discussion considering the amount of political attention and apparent influence she wields.

And a discussion of how egregious criminals who gamed the whole US government against us and go untried vs the treatment of those who committ a crime of personal destruction, is also legitimate.

A thread will stand or fall on its own merit regardless of your opinion. If you have anything to add to a discussion, please do. If not, don't.

She's not going to be a candidate for President in 2012, or ever.

23. And this speaks to the corruption of the legal system
and political system.

The higher you are in the food chain in the political class, the least likely you will face a REAL JUSTICE system.

27. I thought the Jonas Bros were threatened with predator drones
. . . not banksters or lawyers.

Besides, that threat was conditioned on messing with First Fans Malia and Sasha.

20. While I have LITTLE PATIENCE for drunks who drive
yep, picked up the pieces...

I have even less patience for war criminals.

This shows that all that prattle about a fair justice system is not exactly in existence... at least not if you are a member of the political class.

And for the record she won't do the 90 days... if she does 15 I will be surprised. And for her sake I hope she does learn though... and get the HELP she needs.

Now about those serious war criminals... life sounds about right. And the way things are don't expect them to see a cell beyond a movie... maybe.

22. I don't feel sorry for her BUT
it's fucktarded stupid that the punishment is SO ridiculously draconian. California is a bit ridiculous here - the girl had a dui and a bag of snort. Can you imagine what the rest of the U.S. would look like if everyone with a dui and recreational drugs got their asses house arrested, ankle braceleted, Forbidden to have even one drink!!!! and then thrown in jail? WTF? And California liberals worry about a police state?

This is so gloating "I feel superior" because I hate an unfortunate unpopular celebrity - it's disappointing to see this crap on a progressive site.

Yeah she fucked up and she needs help, but there are degrees of tender care in the judicial system.

28. Actually the US is all but draconian
with first DUI offenses...

And removing a drivers license, yearly probation, mandatory drug classes... should be part of it. But go on with thinking this is draconian.

Perhaps you don't get it, but having seen the consequences of DUI's it is not exactly a party thing.

That said, while she goes to jail for 15 days, jails are way overcrowded... we have bona fide, ADMITTED, war criminals still walking free.

31. No I don't get it.
America is always about applying the lowest common denominator to every situation, and yes the worst offenders need to be treated differently.

I'm just not in favor of blanket knee-jerkism. So thank you, I will go on thinking this is draconian. And a little smug.

33. I will give you an example of draconian
El Salvador... it can be a dead penalty offense.

Get the difference?

Personally removing drivers licenses for a year, having to go see the judge for a year, once a week, and attending mandatory drug rehab is about right.

Then again... I had to declare a two year old at a crash... due to a drunk driver, and transport way too many drunks and their victims to the ER with all manners of injuries.

Perhaps picking up the pieces has colored my view a tad. But we are all but draconian.

Now if you are WELL CONNECTED... you can commit war crimes and get away with them. See Reagan, Bush Sr, Colonel North, Bush Junior, Chenney, Rove, Et al... but we got a corporal to serve the time... YEEE HAAAWW...

Yep, equal justice for all indeed.

She deserved what she got.

Too bad she won't serve even 1/3 of her sentence.

She'll most likely be out in about three weeks due to overcrowding, unless she finds some way to screw up while in there.
