Exclusive: Christian group calls out Glenn Beck’s ‘warped gospel’

By Stephen C. Webster
Monday, July 19th, 2010 -- 8:26 pm

.....................

Dan Nejfelt, a communications associate with advocacy group Faith in Public Life, has been high on Beck's smear-list ever since his group began running Christian radio ads quoting scripture as a way of encouraging believers to stop paying attention to the right-wing Fox News personality.

The group, which says their ads are sponsored by over 100,000 Christians nation-wide, is targeting the chalkboard-handy host in every city he's visiting on his summer tour.
.............

But to Nejfelt, it's just a greater shot at exposing Faith in Public Life to the very audience they hope to reach: believers duped into buying Beck's "warped gospel."

"Not only are you wrong, the vast majority of people of faith know that you're wrong," Nejfelt said, lobbing his words directly at Beck in an exclusive interview with RAW STORY. "We're going to keep doing what God tells us to do. We'd appreciate it if you'd stop doing what you're doing."

"God" is taking the racist bigot's eyesight. Not that he wasn't blind already.

3. So his very own Mormon church is fine with what Beck preaches?
I don't recall hearing them denouncing him.

8. There was the 'social justice' admonishment
"Mr. Beck, in vilifying churches that promote ‘social justice,’ managed to insult just about every mainline Protestant, Roman Catholic, African American, Hispanic and Asian congregation in the country – not to mention plenty of evangelical ones.

Even Mormon scholars in Mr. Beck’s own church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said in interviews that Mr. Beck seems ignorant of just how central social justice teaching is to Mormonism.

The controversy began when Mr. Beck said on his radio show on March 2: ‘I beg you, look for the words ’social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words."

9. Great Article by Raw Story!!!
It points out Beck's (and the right's) hypocrisy of hiding behind the Bible to preach intolerance, inequality, and hate.

I attended Beck U. so that you didn't have to and was mortified at the lies, misrepresentations, and falsehoods propagated as truth, especially from one of his so-called professors, David Barton, whose Christian revisionist history of the American Revolution and our Founding Fathers is both factually wrong and frightening. Here's my post:

Despite the snark, we ignore these people and their propaganda at our own peril.
