Pirates of Tallahassee: Jeb Bush is gone, but raids on the housing fund continue
Pirates of Tallahassee

May 13, 2007

Jeb Bush, who did everything but don a bandanna and an eye patch to lead raids on the state's affordable-housing trust fund during his years in office, is no longer governor. But the plundering he inspired lives on.

Despite objections from Gov. Charlie Crist and Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, Florida legislators refused again this year to lift the limit on how much money can be drawn from a fund to help communities increase the availability of low- and moderate-income housing.

The structure of the fund, established 15 years ago, was simple and equitable. A small portion of a tax on real-estate transactions financed it. As housing and land prices rose, so did the dollars available to help people struggling to buy a home.

But the structure was smashed in 2005, when the Legislature imposed a spending limit on housing programs at Bush's urging. He opposed trust funds because they make it harder for lawmakers to shift the cash where they wished.

piece of work, just as his brothers are...hopefully, this gene pool will disappear soon. If they can only stop procreating...then again, as long as turkey basters cost under $5, these bastards will be with us for a while...x(

3. I think they procreate virally, in the rotting flesh of sacrificed children during satanic rituals.
The whole clan is an evil fucking plague.

6. House Speaker Marco Rubio is a Jeb thug.
Has the same neo-con financial advisers as Jeb.

8. Rubio is indeed, Jeb's Chosen One.
People need to band together to head this guy off at the pass. Jeb's had him trained in the incubator of hard right ideology for quite a while. And, at 35, he is headed for a lifetime of subversion of The People's Government.

September, 2005...

Last week, after “more than an hour of solemn ceremony” swearing in Rep. Marco Rubio (R-FL) as House speaker, Gov. Jeb Bush stepped to the podium to tell “a short story about ‘unleashing Chang,’ his ‘mystical warrior’ friend.”

Below, courtesy of the Gainesville Sun, are Bush’s words, “spoken before hundreds of lawmakers and politicians”:

“Chang is a mystical warrior. Chang is somebody who believes in conservative principles, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism, believes in moral values that underpin a free society.

“I rely on Chang with great regularity in my public life. He has been by my side and sometimes I let him down. But Chang, this mystical warrior, has never let me down.”

Bush then unsheathed a golden sword and gave it to Rubio as a gift.

”I’m going to bestow to you the sword of a great conservative warrior,” he said, as the crowd roared.
