Woohoo! Huge Thunderstorms over the Twin Cities
Raining as hard as I have ever seen in my life. So, of course, I had to go get the stepladder and clean clogs out of my gutters right in the middle of it. If I don't, it's likely to end up in my basement.

Tornado warnings around in the Twin Cities Metro Area, but not in my area of Saint Paul...so far.

Everybody duck!

27. I don't know. This seems to be going in a northeasterly direction.

2. Radar seems to indicate that this will pass in about 20 minutes.
That'll be very good. At least for St. Paulites. Further south, it looks bad.

3. It rained like crazy here for a few minutes.

Radar shows more on the way. It's godawful humid out there, too.

Update: Looks like a tornado touched down near Northfield.

4. While I was on the stepladder, I got completely soaked through in
about 10 seconds. I got all the clogs cleared, though, and there's a nice river running down my driveway now, and joining the one in the street. Maybe I'll get my boat out of the garage.

8. No lightning in the immediate area at the time..
Just torrential rain. I should have cleared the gutters this morning. Well, I got another shower, so at least I'm clean.

10. Geez - I haven't noticed a thing - perhaps
this skipped Uptown. Either that or I'm entirely too focused on my project.

11. Could be. Storms in the cities often skip whole areas.
Here on the east side of St. Paul, it's passed now.

21. Wow, I'm 5 miles north of Northfield
No twister here, but it looked like a hurricane whipping the cornfield behind our house. Amazing storm.

5. You be careful there! If there is a chance of hail or lightning.
Still pretty humid here in West Central Wisconsin...hope we get the rain soon.

16. You bet. No way would I be on a ladder if there was any lightning
anywhere near. I couldn't even hear the thunder from the storm's lightning. That was the thing that was the deciding factor. I was out, cleared the gutters, and back in the house in under 2 minutes. I've done this many times before.

6. We had that here in Brooklyn yesterday..for about 2 hours. It was wonderful.

No tornado..but heavy duty winds..and soaking rain..

Temps went from the 90s to the 70s.

Sadly it is back to hot and humid today..and going to be worse for the rest of the week.

I wanted to go out and dance in the rain.

9. Sky's lightening up, now, so it looks like we're on the back
edge of this. But...there's another band off to the West, so we may not be out of the woods.

Good old WCCO radio 830. They're nonstop on the storm, as usual.

http://WCCO.com if you're interested in listening to the coverage.

That, fireflies and good sweet corn are what I most miss about the Midwest.

18. They're exciting, for sure. But, when they grow really severe,
they're frightening. I don't mind them, but I sure think about the folks for whom they're a disaster.

24. We're getting our butts kicked in Appleton WI too.
1 to 2" of rain a couple of hours ago and another big one rolling in right now. One tornado west of here. We're going to need to be ducks...quack!

25. Yah, it moved into Wisconsin, as most of them do. It always seems
to me that they increase in severity in WI. I'm not sure why that would be, though.

Our coverage of Wisconsin on the news ends pretty quickly as things go to the East. If folks don't commute to the Twin Cities, nobody seems to care, I guess.

Hope things go OK for you.
