Women have better memories than men, say scientists
Women have better memories than men, say scientists

WOMEN'S brains function better at remembering information than men's, researchers have confirmed.

A Cambridge University study of 4407 men and women from East Anglia, southeastern England, discovered gender plays a clear difference in memory function.

In tests on participants aged between 48 to 90 years, women made an average of 5.9 fewer errors than men, regardless of age.

-------------------

“A body of scientific literature has demonstrated that women typically outperform men on test of verbal function, whereas men tend to outperform women on tasks of spatial function.

"However, in this study, we used a measure of memory that is spatial and women consistently outperformed men.

“There are many possible explanations for this, including both neurobiological and environmental differences.”

This explains why my girlfriend nags me about crap I did months ago!

19. i am sure it made you laugh. the thing, men like those jabs, constantly, always and then?
if a woman dares to say anything, loosen up. but really, all you did was cut down gf, someone you supposedly at the least... like, and made her look bad.

yes, bad

like, not a nice person

which is your intent.

and give it to all women.

then

liten up.... really, it is funny

i have a father that does it everytime i see him. a father in law too. (my husband just shakes his head. after last time, he said, jab at men, i will back you. i wont, because it is mean and not funny, in the least) mostly the old mans game because they dont feel so awfully powerful, you know, gotta put the woman in place

and really no reason

but there own insecurities

but hey... as long as i loosen up, and laugh at you throwing a jab at gf to make her look bad, for a laugh, at her expense

wth

29. There is a difference between actual sexist jabs
and the kind of joke that men and women tell about their partners that winds up poking more fun at the teller than at the subject of the joke.

30. these two posters consistently say ugly about women, regardless of subject. no, not funny
and you may like to play the part of your position in a relationship is a nag, but i have never been a nag, am not a nag, and will never be a nag. i dont like being told i am a nag because it is what men have decided that is what women are.

my husband nags. my youngest son nags. i dont. and my oldest son doesnt. but often, i get that jab from men, and i have done nothing, to no one.

that may not bother you.

but i dont like it.

and let the gf read that post, and see how funny she thinks it is.

35. no, it isnt humor. we can make the same old tired jokes about a black person
or a gay person and say.... it isnt about the black or the gay, just humor, liten up.

that isnt going to fly

but with women, liten up, humor.

yes

it is about his gf. it is disrespectful. and bet she would not laugh. it makes her sound like a bitch. it makes women sound like a bitch. and that is funny to you?

Most Men and Most Woman will recognize the truth that men and womans brains work differently.

MY girl remembers missteps from years ago and don't even get me started on mothers...

You mileage may very well vary but my personal experience backs up the truth in the OP.

38. nagging does not have to do with gender but character. and here is the exact example of believin bs
instead of it just being humor that the other poster was defending.

i bet you are one of the men that wink at hubby with me standing there about me being a nag and him thinking.... what an ass, if he doesnt just say it out loud.

45. LMAO!
My lady doesn't read internet message boards, but I am tempted to show her this thread, she would get a good laugh out of your responses. Like Efarri stated, it is just a joke/jab at the opposite sex--we all do it. You might not like it, but most people understand that there was no harm intended.

"my husband nags. my youngest son nags. i dont. and my oldest son doesnt. but often, i get that jab from men, and i have done nothing, to no one."

Based on your responses, I am not convinced of the accuracy of your third sentence!

I'm out of this thread!

51. "joke/jab at the opposite sex--we all do it." jab, that is what i said. and no, we dont all do it
i wouldnt even know what jab i am suppose to take at hubby and laugh... and tell him to lighten up.

i dont hear many women laugh at being a nag, no.

and yes, there are men that do not take it as a joke, they think it is fact. like your sunnysong. no different than the jokes and jabs at blacks and gays that we dont/cant/wont do.

44. Yes.
It's statistically significant. Individual results will vary--I doubt that they came up with 5.9 items with a standard deviation of 0.00001.

It will also vary by age and by a whole bunch of other factors. Still, the generalization is there. The verbal and spatial test results have held up regardless of education levels and also cross-culturally. This may, as well.

i have gotten very bad about this. we are talking me having a pad to remember when i get to him to tell him something.

he says, .... you are really going to have an issue when you get older. paused.... we are really going to have issue with you when you get older

BUT

i have kick ass memory on where everyones stuff is all over the house, what all four has to do, when to do, why to do... i beat self up about memory. but then i have an excellent memory too

i agree.

i think they are different things.
