Ladies Against Feminism?
No, really...

http://www.ladiesagainstfeminism.com/
Since 2002, LAF has refuted the follies of feminism and promoted a strong, intelligent, biblical view of womanhood. We love femininity and are delighted to share the beauties of the womanly virtues with women all over the world

http://www.feministing.com/archives/021825.html

You just can't make this stuff up. The Ladies Against Feminism (for real) co-sponsored a "baby conference" where Michelle Duggar of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting received the "Mother of the Year Award."

As Amanda tweeted, "I fail to see how being physically capable of non-stop pregnancy is the same thing as being the world's best mother...That's like saying the guy who can eat 50 hot dogs in a minute is the world's greatest gourmand." Why is ultimate motherhood simply about having as many babies as possible? And when oh when is the Christian Right going to stop promoting the notion that women's ultimate purpose is incubating?

I also think it's worth noting that the founder of Ladies Against Feminism, http://www.feministing.com/archives/012777.html">Jennifer Chancey thinks women shouldn't vote or hold office. So apparently being a dope mother is also about teaching your children that women don't deserve or need equal rights.

:puke:

2. And the top of the page features a link to a five year old World Nut article
about discredited research on an abortion-breast cancer link.

Sadly, the whole site reads like a well done spoof.

4. For the sake of all that is good in the world,
I hope it's a spoof. However, I believe Poe's Law Limit has been reached.

13. I kept looking and looking and clicking and hoping you are right
about it being a spoof site. Nope. I think you're right; "Poe's Law Limit has been reached."

Now I think I'm going to go be an "ugly feminist" and drink or burp or something.

3. Don't need to worry about these ladies, they don't vote. How nice!
I suppose that everyone has their own opinions, and it isn't my place to say they are wrong. If they don't get in my face, they can have whatever dumb opinions that they want.

5. I am the mother of two children, by choice
My husband and I even discussed NEVER having kids. I am not defined now, or have ever been, defined by my children, or for that matter, my husband. I am my own complete human being.

I always have had a separate life apart them all. I could have lived a perfectly happy life apart from them. If you need other people to complete your life, you will never be complete.

6. Perfect. Just fucking perfect.
Under the about page:

LAF is under the oversight of Stanley Sherman, minister of the Lancaster Church of Christ in Junction City, Oregon. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Phil. 4:8

Well, thank their God they're under the thumb, er, I mean oversight, of a man.

Oh, and they sell head coverings, too. Don't wanna actually see those "lovely, whatsoever things". LOL

I'm actually relieved to see them gathering all together, covering their heads, wearing modest clothing, refusing to speak in public as "Biblical women" should, and, of course, refusing to vote. Yay! I hope they don't make contracts, i.e., have bank accounts or credit cards or have their name on the note for their house. I hope they don't go out in public unescorted. Ya know, all those "Biblical" things they so value in those wonderfully "Biblical" countries in the Middle East. They must truly admire the sway the Taliban has over its followers.

Oh, and "Ladies," your names would not be "Mrs. Lydia Sherman and Mrs. Jennie Chancey." That should read Mrs. husband's name Sherman and Mrs. husband's name Chancey. When a man and woman marry they become one; and the one is the husband. Oops. You lose.

11. wow, that's offensive
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 07:14 PM by nickinSTL
I just want to go on record saying that I have no interest in any woman, for any type of relationship, romantic, friendship or anything else, who is not a feminist.

If a woman doesn't think enough of herself to believe that she deserves equal rights to a man, she is not worth my time.

And considering some of the feminists I've known, there is absolutely no conflict between feminism and femininity. The most amazing, beautiful woman I've ever known is a feminist. And I wouldn't want that to ever change.

edited for poor grammar

Okay, maybe, maybe a spoof? Maybe?

Or some really lousy marketing skills when your TLA translates to LAF.

In fact, many organized religions promote this very misogyny. Quite openly.

She actually started her blog post by apologizing for writing it, because she was a woman and wasn't supposed to do things like that!

21. There are men preaching against feminism...
but, as soon as a woman tries to preach against feminism, you're like "Oh my God!", "Why aren't they cooking somebody's dinner?", "That is so like men's work and isn't very lady-like."
;)

26. Wait until their husbands die, meet someone else or
are otherwise out of the picture, then these prima-donnas will have to raise their broods alone in a difficult economy.
Life is unpredictable and these women need to learn those life survival lessons the hard way.
