Me: Hey, I read an interesting article this morning on reducing military spending. Did you know the Pentagon's budget is more than all other discretionary programs combined?
Them: So?
Me: Well, this article made some good arguments for cutting back -
Them: Wait a minute. Who wrote it?
Me: Ron Paul and Barney Frank.
Them: Ha ha ho ho! Barney Frank? The man who single-handedly ruined our entire economy? The man behind the housing crash? That Barney Frank?
Me: Listen. If you want to cut federal spending, shouldn't you look at the single largest chunk of the budget?
Them: I can't stand the way Barney Frank talks. And of course, he lives with another man. You did know that, right? Plus he's overweight and he wears ugly ties and he always leans back in his chair and -
Me: ... sigh ...
Here's the article. I thought it made some good points. But I have a sneaky suspicion that my friends will never read it.
