Reports: U.S. Ships Massing Off Iran Coast As Israel Prepares To Strike
By Susie Madrak Monday Jun 28, 2010 10:00am
Via Raw Story, some horrible news if true - since an Israeli attack on Iran means they're seen in the Middle East as our surrogate. The Associated Press is still trying to confirm:

As unconfirmed reports of an imminent Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities pick up steam in the Middle Eastern media, a US-based strategic intelligence company has released a chart showing US naval carriers massing near Iranian waters.

The chart, published by Stratfor and obtained by the Zero Hedge financial blog, shows that over the last few weeks a naval carrier -- the USS Harry S Truman -- has been positioned in the north Indian Ocean, not far from the Strait of Hormuz, which leads into the Persian Gulf. The carrier joins the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, which was already located in the area. The chart is dated June 23, 2010.

Reports of mass movements of Israeli and US naval warships have been circulating through the media for weeks. On June 19, the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported that 12 US and Israeli warships were seen moving through the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.

3. They'll be seen as our surrogate -- which may be true.
Or, more likely, in reality we're their surrogate.

5. Because the two we already have are so unpopular?
And since there is nothing as useful as a war to distract us from what is being done in our name...

We have people desperately trying to convince the board that breaking windows in Toronto is worse than subjugating and enslaving entire populations, and that the "only pragmatic action" is to "stay the course" and hope that they stop of their own accord.

That pouring a trillion dollars overnight into the pockets of the parasite class is just fine, but that direct relief to those actually suffering is un-American.

That the political party in control of 2/3 of the government is helpless in the face of the mere suggestion of opposition and that we should just be thankful that it's not worse.

And on and on and on...

6. I don't see anything credible here in regards to war. I believe that Israel might strike Iran and...
...there's a possibility that the U.S. might assist. But I don't see anything in these reports that rises to the level of serious consideration. Now, I believe that the ships "including at least one Israeli ship" passed through the Suez, and that the ships (at least the U.S. ones) are off to give much-needed relief to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group.

But beyond that...

Am I missing something? It just looks like conjecture but I don't see what facts this conjecture is based on. If anything, it's likely if Israel does launch an attack on Iran it'll be from the 3 Israeli nuclear and nuclear-armed submarines widely-reported to be off the coast of Iran. Iran has access to some seriously high-tech anti-ship missiles which carriers especially are very vulnerable to.
