GOP sez: Corporate accountability is totalitarianism! Hitler! Stalin! Aaaaahhh!
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) lashed out at White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel on Twitter earlier this week, telling him “u lie” for saying that many Republicans agree with Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) that the White House shook down BP to create a $20 billion escrow fund to help Gulf families. Of course, Barton’s sentiment is not unique among conservatives, as Palin herself proved today. Taking to Twitter once again, Palin urged, “GOP: Don’t let the lamestream media suck you into ‘they’re defending BP over Gulf spill victims’ bs…” She followed up by urging her followers to “read Thomas Sowell’s article,” which compares President Obama to Hitler.

If followers click on the link they will see that Sowell, under the headline, “Is U.S. Now On Slippery Slope To Tyranny?” argues that the escrow fund is just like the Enabling Act, which “gave Hitler dictatorial powers that were used for things going far beyond the relief of the German people — indeed, powers that ultimately brought a rain of destruction down on the German people and on others.” On Tuesday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) endorsed Sowell’s ludicrous Hitler-Obama comparison on House floor, calling the columnist “brilliant,” before quoting several lines from the piece. “It’s difficult to overstate how absurd all of this is,” Political Correction noted.

1. As usual the Right tries to confuse the facts or they are showing
their ignorance.

Here are the basics.

Liberalism(Democratic) taken to its logical estension(extreme)
becomes Communism(Marxism).

Conservatism(Republican)taken to its logical extension(extreme)
Naziizm.

Libertarianism in the extreme Anarchy.

Both Liberalism and Conservatism can result in Totalitarianism

The Difference IS: Who is in Power.

Communism the State(meaning the Government) is in power
Naziism is the merger (marriage) of Business and the State.

The GOP protects and gives Business power. Here in US at
this time it is the RIGHT who defends Business, BP, Wall Street
and who tries to block any legislation that Business opposes.

One simple point. Naziism is a Right Ideology
Communism is a LEFT Ideolgy.

Communism-- the state would take over and run businesses.
Venzuela is not communist but taken to extreme could be.
State actually now owns and runs Businesses.

Many in the GOP use all these terms in such ignorant wqys.
A center right country cannot be communist. It is creeping
toword Naziism.

We all have a duty to protect our Democracy. How can
they protect womething they do not even understand.

2. For strictly political purposes...
...I would have preferred the escrow fund go through congress.

BP is practically Public Enemy #1.

It would have been interesting to make the GOP vote in public as to which side of the issue they would have stood on, i.e. functionaries like Jindal vs. the people hurt by the disaster vs BP.

For right or for wrong the president allowed them to escape a public vote and the accountability that goes with it. We made a lot of mileage with that doofus Barton, it would have been nice to have a couple hundred more of those.
