Why did Ben Nelson vote against the jobs bill?
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 08:25 PM by one_voice
What does he have to gain?

I don't see how voting against this bill will help anyone during the mid-terms. I must be missing something. :banghead:

The Repugs are assholes...just thought I'd throw that in there for good measure. :-)

edited to add: I think every person that voted against this bill should lose their jobs/health benefits for a year and try and live off unemployment. Maybe we can "outsource" their jobs to some of the unemployed. Bet they wake up quick, fast and in a hurry.

1. He already told us.
Unemployment in his state is ca. 5% so all that Nebraska money is going to go out of state to either pay UI for lesser beings, or to pay interest on the money borrowed to pay UI for lesser beings.

14. Somehow they'll spin this into.....
Blaming Obama for not creating jobs, while out of the other side of their mouths they're saying government doesn't create jobs. It's a win/win for them, all people will see is the unemployment number. They'll lose their unemployment, but forget who voted AGAINST them receiving extended benefits.

Seems some people don't bother to find out what's going on, they live and vote from what they've heard in sound bites. It's really a shame so many people vote against their own interests.

15. economy
If the economy is still failing come this fall they can point to Obama and claim failure so they are doing all they can to cause that to happen, doesn't matter to them that many will go hungry and lose their homes, it is all about getting elected, they are pols. That is the only and main real reason behind all of their obstructionism

16. I would think so, that citizens would get the drift, but I'm convinced many
citizens put their brains in neutral when they vote.

Some of these people that get into congress are ridiculous fools, yet they get voted in... or possibly the elections are rigged.

I'm beside myself, I just don't see how this nation can get fucked over again and again by these people are they haven't dwindled to a few percentage points. You would think 8 years of Bush would have demonstrated something but apparently not.

This has to be about the most ignorant and gullible nation on earth.

8. He's concerned about the deficit
Earlier this month the US passed a military budget of $750 billion, which includes building massive new bases in Colombia. It also includes a new class of aircraft carriers - the US will now have 12 aircraft carriers even though no other nation has more than one aircraft carriers.

In the decades and centuries to come, as every other republic that has become an empire, this vast army will eventually be used on its own population.

The US armed forces marched through Los Angeles after a non-LA jury in a well-to-do bedroom community let the cops who beat Glen Rodney King go. A prelude of things to come.

13. He is also from a very conservative state that want him to vote
with the republicans, which if you notice, he does much of the time. I don't know why he just doesn't change over to be a republican he acts like one.
