The significance of Blanche Lincoln
I have no doubt the significance of her win will be lost on many posters here.

I am not wild, by any means, about Blanche Lincoln but the fact is that she is more likely to beat a "conservative" Republican than a would be a more liberal candidate. This is true because that's her constituency.

If you want to try to convert her constituency to be more liberal, that's great. I applaud you and I'll even help you. However as things stand we can't defeat "conservatives" and all of the miserable, dumbass ideas they stand for without being a coalition.

Go ahead and abuse me for telling this truth. It's not going to do you a damn bit of good. In the meantime I'm happy because "conservatives" are way, way worse than conservative Democrats.

And the "conservative" Republicans...will eventually get back to power. And by "conservative" I do mean a party so to the right that it would be considered a "ultra-nationalist"/"Theocratic" party in other countries.

13. We have numbers to prevent them from ever getting back to power.
The only way "conservatives" get back to power is if we shoot ourselves in the foot, and by "conservatives" I think you and I mean the same thing.

I distinguish between conservatives and "conservatives". "Conservatives" are radicals. Real conservatives cannot be radicals.

2. The fact is that both dems are polling way behind Boozman.
by over 20 points.

and that's why it was 10 mil down the toilet. At least with Halter's loss, the Blue Dogs can't blame progressives in November.

4. I think the significance of the challenge to Lincoln is what's being lost.
Labor and traditional liberal Democrats are not going to support the win at any cost philosophy anymore. They won't be falling in line and supporting the corporate democrats as they once did. The Labor gravy train of political support is going to be making fewer stops (if any) for Democrats that vote against their interests.

11. Yep
& even though Blanch won, she may be more receptive to union interests. One thing unions won't do is side with the rabidly anti-union party - so Blanch will get union support. I just hope she learned a lesson from this scare.

5. Don't lose much of the significance
This was a very tight race. The president is having a hard time generating any "coat tails" and the only place he does seem to be able to do so is in red leaning states. That speaks volumes. The White House wants to talk about "wasting" $10 million, but the reality is that they are "wasting" their time, influence, and money trying to prop up incumbent conservadems that don't have a prayer of staying in office.

Blanche got a warning, and will probably lose the general. Other dems will take note.

6. I think Halter made a great showing being a Progressive!
The glass isn't always half empty. He made an impressive showing and it probably gave her and Obama and Rahm Emanuel something to think about. He garnered a hell of a lot of votes for such a conservative state.

10. Psst, for the last time, Bill Halter is not a progressive!! Nor is he a liberal. He is very much
like Bill Clinton, a moderate.

8. Halter put up a brave fight against corrupt, entrenched interests.
For that he deserves our thanks.

I don't give a flying fuck what happens to Blanche Lincoln.
