2. Thanks for this post
I explained to my child what his Grandfather went through for this country. Just like what I tell him about the betrayal of democracy by corporatists in the Uniparty.

7. Actually a Brit immigrant to Canada.
My grandmother fled Ireland to England to escape the poverty. She had 6 kids, 4 girls, 2 boys. She and my grandfather immigrated to Canada where he broke horses for the Canadian army. He got on the wrong horse and was killed. My grandmother couldn't keep all the kids. The boys were adopted out and stayed in Canada. She and the girls immigrated to San Francisco to steal housekeeping jobs from rich housewives.

8. My Irish kin went to Liverpool to get away from poverty, died for the IRA and
the British Govt. sent the four kids - ages 8 - 14 - in four different directions. My grandfather and his sister - they were the 8 and 9 year olds - were sent to work on separate farms outside Montreal. There you go....

9. Leeds is where my mother was born, and the rest of the kids.
My mother was the 2nd oldest girl and she and the oldest became housemaids at 9 & 10 in Toronto. The boys were adopted out to farmers near Toronto. My grandmother told me that "Ireland is a beautiful place..to starve."

6. Actually, that was Stalingrad, but it is still HUGE and flying the flag is a great idea. I think
I'll put out my US and my British flags.

Thanks for the suggestion!!!!

10. I'll split the difference
Stalingrad in the east (where Hitler miscalculated in a similar fashion to Napoleon in 1812) and Normandy in the west.
