Seems to me that the market ususally LOVES notices of layoffs and unemployment. Today, the market dropped on bad employment news. Could we be looking at a change in ruling class mentality? Have they finally realized that they need people with money in hand to buy things if the economy is to be profitable for them? About time, sez I.

1. we can hope, but..
technically, they don't need people with money to buy things for as long as they can keep feeding at the bailout trough. Therein lies the problem for the rest of us.

2. umm, what?
seriously -- wtf? Do you honestly think any of them could have a change of heart? Please show us where ANY of them actually HAVE hearts.

Change of tactic -- MAYBE. This has been a longterm war started by elites and to think they've had a *come to jebus* moment is (no offense) naive at best.

The downturn is probably a reaction to some other market taking a dump, period.

3. stocks
A stock drops because its shares are seen as lower-valued than they were before, so they trade at lower prices. If enough companies are seen in a negative way, the entire stock index can drop. The stock market index is made up of a lot of different companies stocks.

That is really the extent of it.

Companies that stock traders see as being good values do not go down or up depending on the unemployment rate or a "jobs report". It always bugs me when I see a news article try to give us a reason why the market went up or down on a given day. Unless that reason actually impacts companies perceived bottom lines, then its not going to move the market.

If the "jobs report" did cause the index to fall, then it is probably because the stock traders see more bad news on the horizon for the economy.
