Here's a thought. If your crawfish Jumbalaya is glowing when they serve it walk away.

1. A slow death from the oil or a quick one from a blast

2. If a nuke blasts a far larger hole into this well

allowing the rest of the oil to escape completely unchecked..... yeah it would be twice the disaster and quite a difference.

They would still have to drill a hole to locate a nuclear device in a place where the shock wave from it will pinch the well bore shut. If you Google Operation Plowshare, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Plowshare you can find out more.

It might just work, but.....the people that worked on that have long since retired...it will take time to drill a hole to set the device....there is no guarantee that it won't vent....the interaction of the seabed with a compression wave are not well known....the displacement of the seafloor could cause a tsunami....
