The drill ships will sail for Brazil, Australia, North Sea, Africa, etc.

How many months ahead are they committed, and how long will it be before drilling can resume in US waters if they are all elsewhere?

6. How fast can you blink? Hell, they won't wait. BP will whatever the fuck it wants,
whenever it wants. Who's gonna stop them? The US military? Those folks keeping journalists away from the cleanup? Not in Duhmerica.

7. IS the 6 month moratorium approved?
I read here (from tekisui's link) that it was recommended, but haven't heard anything since:

8. There was a post on the oil drum that indicated that it was
And that wells being drilled had to stop, render the well safe, and remove the drills.

So a lot of people in the Gulf will be out of work. The drill ships will move on to whatever jobs are available.

9. A lot of people in the Gulf are out of work because they can't fish.
Sorry, but no sympathy from me for folks who can't create catastrophies anymore. Unless/until drilling can be done safely, I hope the moratorium becomes permanent. I also hope these folks find gainful employment doing something safe.

Thanks for the update FarCenter. Good info, as usual, over there at The Oil Drum.

10. It's odd that I haven't seen any of the shrimp boats with sails
They all seem to be diesel or gasoline powered.

13. The pressure on President Obama is going to be severe for him to reopen Gulf drilling ASAP
Too much money involved. Many east coast states still want expanded offshore drilling for the billions they would get in royalties too. So its not limited to the Gulf.
