Thad Allen
A couple of weeks ago, Admiral Allen stated that today (5/28) he would be relieved from duty in preparation for retirement. That's the last I heard of it. Any update on whether or not he still plans on imminent retirement? Do I have the date wrong?

1. He stayed on the job and plans to stay on it as long as the President ...
.... wants him to ..... he deserves better than the way BP is hanging him out to dry.

2. He'll get what he deserves alright.
A nice cushy consulting job with BP for half a million per annum. All for being a good little parrot and backing them up during this disaster.

7. Speculation? or is there a link to that somewhere? Not that I don't doubt
it could happen, more curious to know if it already has

4. Robert Papp takes over as Commandant of the Coast Guard. Allen is staying on as Incident Commander.

8. Thanks.
Hopefully, Papp won't be looking for a fat retirement check from BP.

6. A lot of the confusion about who is in charge in the Gulf can be laid at his feet.
His statements have been ambiguous and he has acted as if he works for BP. I was happy the President did clarify that yesterday.
