Holy cow. Who's watching the live feed? Did something blow? I was on the phone and
looked away for a minute, looked back and all hell seems to have broken loose.

1. Yep...
Looking at the feed. I believe the feed that shows 3 plumes was a piece of weaken riser pipe they were worried about. It looks like it may have burst.

This is total speculation on my part based on video observation, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

6. its descriptive.. not speculative
i've been watching this for a few hours and its totally mud and particulate matter.
the three jets seemed to turn into one, and the mud seems to be falling back down around the camera.

8. There is no harm in watching and speculating.
Although, there have been several times when it looked like something had changed drastically, only to return to a similar view.

5. I saw what you're describing for just a moment.
Then the picture went black and in a few seconds came back showing a kind of uniform light brownish green with stuff floating in it. (I'm looking at http://globalwarming.house.gov/spillcam).

The gusher I saw and the calm color I'm seeing now are both very light, which may mean that they are mud rather than oil.

7. what's different is we can't see a damn thing
No way to know if this is good or bad - mud, oil, or air?

yes, it is radically different looking than it was an hour ago.

I just hope it's not a change for the worse --- and that we have enough independent verification of source to be told the truth.

9. What I saw was the gushers getting smaller and smaller.
Edited on Wed May-26-10 08:57 PM by tabatha
I am hoping that they have stopped.

10. Now I can see the "gusher" again somewhat obscured by the brownish water.
I think all of this is expected. As long as the gushing stuff doesn't turn black again it's probably good. At least that's how I understand it.

17. I can still kind of see the plume.
There's probably a lot of mud in the water now.

19. Sure looks murky down there
But I guess that's expected when you pump tons of mud down every few minutes.

20. Yes, the water is murky. There has not been a new blowout. I'm sure it's fine.
Because, at times, the water clears enough to see that the tan-colored plumes are still much the same.

The mud is heavier than water, but is blowing in an upward direction.

All these thousands of gallons are accumulating and loitering around in the waters in the neighborhood.

Eventually, some of the material has sunken and blended with the otherwise more clear seawater.

And this muddied water finally crept back in around the BOP from all sides, more from the left, and is obscuring our view.

That's what I think we are seeing.
