Anyone else entertained by seeing right-wing advertisers paying for DU?

OK, my donor star expired, and I'm too poor to donate right now, so I'm amusing myself by observing some of the ads Google serves to DU.

The latest one I saw was for Walker Stapleton, who is running for Colorado State Treasurer. Note the significance of the two names: Walker, as in George Walker Bush (yes, he's a member of that Bush clan), and Stapleton (remember the Denver Klansman mayor?)

Hey, it costs the fuckers money for click-thrus, so I clicked. :evilgrin:

2. Supposedly, DU has no choice

in what sites advertise on DU. Something to do with Google, and them posting ads based on topics discussed on that site. Guess we talk too much about the GOP.

Maybe someone can fill you in on how, specifically, the ad process works. (I wasn't trying to be snotty here. As I'm reading this over, it kind of sounds that way).


edit: I guess I should READ the whole post first! Ooops. That's what happens when you're at work and trying to post fast. I take it you already know about this process. I am glad I have a star. I couldn't stand the ads, any and all of them.

Yeah, I didn't think Skinner could just call up Google and say "Dump the right wing ads!" - Google serves what it thinks is relevant ads to content on the page. We're talking about Walker Stapleton, candidate for Colorado State Treasurer, so Google's gonna serve up more ads about him...

3. I've always liked that myself. When people complain and say DU shouldn't

accept their advertising I think No! Take their money! And I click a lot, too.
