Viral Video of Columbia Police Drug Raid Spurs Changes
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Police in the Missouri college town of Columbia will work under more stringent rules for serving drug search warrants after a video showing a botched raid went viral.

Columbia Police Chief Ken Burton unveiled the new rules Monday. His department has been besieged by criticism from animal lovers all over the world who saw an online video of a February raid in which a pit bull was shot and killed.

The dog's owner was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges while his wife and 7-year-old son watched.

Drug search warrants must now be approved by higher-ranking police captains rather than drug officers or SWAT commanders. Police also will consider whether the presence of children should curtail a raid.

3. Good - This was Bullshit
There was a little 7 year old boy running around scared to death - it could have been him instead of the dog.
And for what?
A crusty old pipe, and a couple of bowls of weed?
That required a SWAT team?

We're such a MORAL country, I swear to Christ.

5. And didn't Columbia decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana?
I could have sworn I heard that.

before they kill the dogs?
