SecDef Gates suggests Obama, Levin, Pelosi, Reid are 'stupid' for wanting to move ahead with DADT repeal this year

The man should be fired. He thinks he's the commander in chief of the US military. And he thinks he can run roughshod over the President of the United States. And sadly, he's right about the latter, and possibly the former too.
Gates is pulling a Colin Powell, and Obama is letting him get away with it. What other explanation is there for why the Secretary of Defense, a week after letting loose with a bombshell letter opposing the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' this year, is now doing CNN and AGAIN spouting off about how dangerous and rough and disrespectful to our troops it would be for us to repeal DADT this year.
Legislating a change to the policy before the military's review was done "would send a very negative signal to men and women in uniform that their views on this and how it should be done, don't matter," Gates added.Yes, because our troops are a bunch of babies who need to be coddled and consulted on every order.
Gates went so far as to suggest it would be "stupid" to move ahead with repeal this year:
I've led several huge public institutions and I've led change in every one of them and there's a smart way to do change, and there's a stupid way to do change. This one has to be done smart.http://gay.americablog.com/2010/05/secdef-gates-suggests-obama-levin-frank.html
