Why Kagan will Move the Supreme Court To the Left
Summarized from http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/5/10/865113/-Why-Kagan-Makes-Sense:-Citizens-United-

- She will defend the Constitutionality of HCR (won't be overturned by SCOTUS)
- She will defend Net Neutrality
- Pro-choice
- Pro-Gay Rights
- Against corporate personhood

Has a real possibility of persuading Kennedy on issues.

Details are at the link.

2. I don't know Kagan. Someone told me she's a corporatist, which I'm afraid of,
but you seem to thing she isn't. I hope you're right. I'm sick of corporate rule.

3. she lost the Citizens United case -- no one is mentioning that
at least not the ones who blindly follow...

check out Mother Jones's article --

Is Elena Kagan Too Inexperienced?

http://motherjones.com/mojo/2010/05/elena-kagans-moment-panic

yeah, we really need an inexperienced judge who can have circles run around her by the corporatists already on the SCOTUS. That's one way of assuring corporate rule (and keep those campaign donations flowing while claiming to work for change)...

4. You obviously didn't get the memo. You're suppose to say she's too conservative
The point of experience has been debunked already.

And you aren't going to win a case in a SCOTUS that is stacked 5-4. Unless you put someone in strong enough to twist Kennedy's arm, which she is.

7. Hold her to an impossible standard then. No one would have won that case. NO ONE.
The court was stacked against her.

10. Harriet Miers? Oh, c'mon! That is a ridiculous stretch and you know it...
there are substantive issues with which we can agree or disagree, but that's over the top...

5. I also suggest for your research
you go to mediamatters.org it has a good deal about her. Of course some will not do so because they are going to settle on whatever they want to think and facts be damned.

8. She has all the experience needed
Larry Summers protege? Check.

Worked for Goldman Sachs? Check.

Hey, I got a radical idea. Howabout a nominee who doesn't have any association with the people who have been ripping this country off for decades? Maybe someone whose social circle contains a majority of normal, middle- or lower- class people?

12. No, she'll move it slightly to the right.
She's not going to be good on excesses of the executive, or domestic abuses to civil rights, in spite of being fine on other issues.

She's a Democrat, but not one who can be depended on regarding some key issues dear to progressives.

13. "She will defend the Constitutionality of HCR"
So, defending that piece of corporatist Heritage Foundation Romneycare corporate welfare shit, is now considered "left"?

Not on this planet.
