Theo-fascism in the US
I have recently come to the certain conclusion that there are many US citizens who, know it or not, are putting a great amount of energy into creating a system of Theocratic Fascism right here in our country.
Unless you’you've been living under a rock you are familiar with at least some of the actions that back up my conclusion.
What I find particularly ironic is that these same ultra-religious people, who claim to put God at the center of their lives, to work to model themselves after Christ, are very often the same ones who are for corporate personhood, torture, and the watering down of our civil rights, among other things. And yet, those are all things Christ would be against.
Somehow, their religious zealotry has morphed into a perverted version of national pride. They take pride in believing and repeating the twists of fact and truth corporations promote. It seems as though they do believe everything they hear and read but opt not for realities and the full story, but rather to limit themselves to what is put in front of them unquestioningly.
From the corporate view point, this redirection must have been relatively easy. While I don’t pretend to know how many US citizens take the Bible as the unquestionable and absolute truth I would venture to guess there are millions. To redirect the focus of folks already accustomed to not questioning was really just a matter of distorting history and knowable facts and tying them to words and pictures that would provoke a strong, angry response.
I don’t begrudge anyone their religious beliefs, but when it turns into something ugly and attempts to have a negative effect on our country I have to react somehow.

2. It's getting ugly here in Sheboygan county.
In the Town of Wilson, there is an empty building a Muslim wants to covert into a mosque.

"Reverend" Wayne DeVrou of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg is pushing the panic button, going so far as to bring in Bridgette Gabriel, an anti-Muslim bigot as a "terrorism expert."
