Joe Sestak tied with Arlen Specter in poll; Pat Toomey raises $1 million
By Laura Vecsey
May 07, 2010, 5:08PM
A day after U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak started airing a TV advertisement linking U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter to former President George W. Bush and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, a daily tracking poll said Sestak is tied with Specter in the Democratic primary.

The Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion poll showed Sestak and Specter tied at 43 percent each. It is the first time Sestak has been tied with the 30-year incumbent who switched parties last April. Specter held a 5-point lead in the same poll on Thursday.

I think an objective examination of their voting records will show little difference in them, with Specter, perhaps, being the more liberal. But here's the thing . . . . Admiral Joe's an actual Democrat.

edit to spell Admiral Joe's name correctly

But at least Sestak never helped the Bush Crime Family get away with a Presidential assassination.

6. I don't trust Specter with a fresh 6 year term
Sure, he's a good Democrat now, but with a fresh 6 year term, he'd probably become more of a Liebercrat as the years wore on.

And I was an Arlen volunteer the last time he ran as a Dem (yes - I am that elderly). To quote my gerentologist -- old Arlen may be having mild memory dementia.

9. Sestak. I think about Specter's campaigning for Sarah Palin. And Bush saying
Edited on Fri May-07-10 07:32 PM by AlinPA
"I can count on this guy. He's a firm ally". And Specter helping Clarence Thomas to sit on the Supreme Court. But the Sarah Palin support was enough to make up my mind.

10. They both suck. I see no difference between them.
Specter might be easier to elect, but frankly, I don't give a rat's behind about either ONE of the anti-choice, anti-equality, DINO Blue Dog assholes. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

24. HOW do you call Sestak anti-choice??? WTF are you talking about???
I just listened to a ringing endorsement from NOW for Joe Sestak yesterday ... here are his ratings from NARAL etc:

2009 Representative Sestak supported the interests of NARAL Pro-Choice America 100 percent in 2009.

2008 Representative Sestak supported the interests of Planned Parenthood 100 percent in 2008.

2007-2008 Representative Sestak supported the interests of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association 100 percent in 2007-2008.

2007-2008 Representative Sestak supported the interests of the National Right to Life Committee 0 percent in 2007-2008.

2007 Representative Sestak supported the interests of the NARAL Pro-Choice America 100 percent in 2007.

Toomey will wipe the floor with Specter.

Sestak will blow Toomey's doors off.

22. I'm strongly leaning Sestak.
I have been from the start. I don't like having a candidate shoved down my throat and I'm very put off by Specter's attack on Sestak's military record.

Sestak has hit back in a big way with his latest ad featuring GWB, Palin and Arlen's own words. I'd like to see more Democrats staad up for themselves so effectively.

23. Specter can't be trusted to stand with us.
He'll tell you to your face that he stood a better chance running as a Democrat than as a Republican. By default, I would have to support Sestak.

27. and yet, since his switch back to Democrat, he has voted the Party line on all procedural votes
And that is more than can be said for a good number of seated Democrats who were elected as such.
