Let's clear up this THIS SMEAR of PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATE FOR OH SENATOR-Jennifer Brunner
In case you came across this DU post and are now re-thinking a possible switch from supporting Jennifer Brunner:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=8264874&mesg_id=8264874

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

"Jennifer has said all along that she is a Democrat and
will continue to be a good Democrat but she has never
endorsed in a race or publicly supported or campaigned for
any candidate – including President Obama - since she became
Ohio’s chief elections official. She has no plans to change
that."

-snip

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=285582&mesg_id=286072

and here she reiterated it again during a debate with Lee Fisher:

Fisher asked Brunner whether she would endorse him if he wins the May 4 primary. Fisher has already pledged to support her if she wins the chance to face Republican Rob Portman in November.

Brunner said she could not endorse any politician because she will remain the state's chief elections officer through the general election.

-snip

http://www.cleveland.com/naymik/index.ssf/2010/04/secretary_of_state_jennifer_br_2.html

SHE IS A VERY HONORABLE PERSON AND HAS BEEN AN ACCOMPLISHED PUBLIC SERVANT. I FIND THIS SMEAR OF HER DISGUSTING!

2. Honestly, when I hear Fishers ads, I wonder what party his is running in
His ads all play right in to the rhetoric of tax and spend Washington which we all know is aimed at Democrats.

Jennifer has my support and vote.

anyone with any sense of ethics or commitment will have such a strong attachment to party as to endorse every one of its candidates, no matter who they are or what they represent.

5. Can a state's chief elections officer voice any sort of partisan support?
"Brunner said she could not endorse any politician because she will remain the state's chief elections officer through the general election."

It sounds to me, based on the above line, that a state's cheif elections officer cannot "take sides".

9. I don't tend to get involved in out-of-state Primaries...
...so I'm not playing favorites here, or in OH-2. That being said, I'll be supporting the winner (currently expected to be Fisher, based on the latest polls) as a n opportunity to knock off another Republican and protect our control of the Senate. Will you be prepared to do the same?

17. And where does he stand on reigning in the corporate ownership of our government?
Because, frankly, if the workers and middle class keep disappearing I think we're all going to be too busy trying to find our next meal to worry about much else. That's the problem we are having with the DINO's. No one to stand up against the ruling class in favor of the rest of us.

We need to do better at supporting our progressives in their primaries.

As I said before, I'm not choosing between Primary candidates. But once one of them wins, anyone who sits on their hands because their candidate didn't win might as well register as a Republican.

15. from her website:
Jennifer Brunner to Continue Fulfilling Promise of Neutrality as Ohio’s Chief Elections Officer
BY DAVID ON 05.03.2010
Jennifer Brunner has fiercely guarded the independence of the office of Secretary of State. She has said for months that if she wins the primary she will continue the delegation of authority she signed that shifted some of her responsibility to senior staff. If she loses the primary, she will resume all of her duties and continue to be an impartial secretary of state.

Jennifer has said all along that she is a Democrat and will continue to be a good Democrat but she has never endorsed in a race or publicly supported or campaigned for any candidate – including President Obama - since she became Ohio’s chief elections official. She has no plans to change that.

19. I donated $50 to Brunner weeks ago
I convinced three family members in Ohio to vote for Brunner weeks ago.

Today, I donated $100 to Fisher and convinced those three family members to instead vote for Fisher.

Brunner is a sore loser. There is no law on the books prohibiting her from endorsing any candidate of her choice. She chose to run for the Senate and now falling back on this crap makes her a complete sore loser. If that's her position, she should have resigned as SOS when she decided to run for the Senate BECAUSE SHE MOST CERTAINLY HAS ENDORSED HERSELF FOR AN OFFICE OTHER THAN SOS!.

I now support primarying her when she's up for re-election. She's no better than Lieberman.

25. I do not consider this a smear.
Jennifer Brunner CHOSE to run for an office other than the one she currently holds. IF she had been true to her own standards, she would have resigned from her position as SOS before doing so.

Then, when answering a direct question she flippantly signaled "zero" with her hand instead of giving the reason she gave later today.

She smeared herself.

I now support primarying her when she seeks re-election to SOS.

38. I remember how Ed Rendell's wife was smeared in a similiar way back in 2002 (By GOP)
Ed's wife is a federal judge in Philadelphia so she was not able to do any campaigning whatsoever other than showup on stage election night after the results where announced. So not once did you see Midge anywhere on the campaign trail.

The GOP idiot that ran against Rendell in 2002 tried to use that against him although it failed miserably. Sure Ed's only family campaigning for him was his son but that didn't make Ed any less of a family man that the GOP jerk.
