Obama's commencement speech at U.of M. today....
Edited on Sat May-01-10 08:56 PM by Jokinomx
Growing up as a kid born in the 50s, in my life, I have witnessed a few leaders speak. Only Martin Luther King Jr really stands out as exceptional. Even as a child I was in awe of his words and what they stood for. The depth of wisdom and compassion he shared has been unsurpassed by anyone in my lifetime. Until Barrack Obama. We are witnessing my fellow DUers, a man that will go down in history as one of our greatest leaders. After it's all said and done....President Obama will be looked upon as one of the most effective and impressive leaders we have ever had. It's a shame that so many people have allowed their fears and prejudices to cloud their vision.

He spoke today with grace, eloquence, passion and insight... and didn't have to look at the palm of his hand either.... in fact I watched the entire speech and didn't see him look down once to read a note or even read from a teleprompter. If there was one there ... I didn't see him reading it....

I am so proud of him and those that recognized that he was the leader we needed at this time. It has been a long time since I felt such pride in one of our leaders.

That's the way I feel on this 1st day of May, 2010.

10. I'm amazed at the way today's speech has been ignored
but then they represent corporations so a comprehensive explanation of the role of government is not exactly what they want to see or hear.

3. I was so proud of OUR president today!!
I had a huge lump in my throat and felt like crying while listening to President Obama's speech because I was so moved by him. I also want to congratulate the reception the Wolverines gave to him. They did the U of M and the whole state of Michigan proud.

4. He speaks of moving the country forward with dialog and
civility. The right does not want to hear that because if that happens it will be the end for them. They have nothing positive to offer the country and they know we know.

It was an inspiring speech! That is what this country needs!

8. Not that I could find..but I am sure eventually it will make it's way
to the internet. I see other Universities have posted their videos of him speaking at their schools so I would expect that the Dems would really want to get this out. He really had some great things to say today and more people should be able to hear it.

12. 16 weeks, pretty standard
14 for classes, 1 for spring break, 1 for finals. Nothing unusual about that.
