Both are on the current DU discussion page...
First: Michigan U runs out of 80,000 tickets to commencement address by Barack Obama.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x283662Second: In Wichita, KS (where one would think Ms. Moosekiller would be quite popular), $122-$37 tickets to a Sarah Palin appearance (with Pat Boone, even!) are now being offered in the bargain bin for $15.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8249447Yet, every morning on teevee I hear how the Tea Baggers and GOP are going to wipe the floor with us in 2010. Now, I know there is not necessarily a direct correlation between the 2010 election and the apparent fact that not even people in Wichita are willing to fork over good money to hear the harpy from Alaska, but one can't help but draw some conclusions. Like, maybe we're being totally lied to. For instance, 800 people show up for a Tea Bagger rally, and it's national news for a week. But when more than a million people show up to protest Bush's war, it wasn't even shown on television. More recently (like, this week) a huge anti-Wall Street march took place in NYC. Did you hear anything about it? Of course not. But if half a dozen Tea Baggers stand in front of a Mexican restaurant, it's national news.
Point being, don't be so quick to buy into the MSM gloom-doom scenario for the Dems. They are trying to make it one. They are using their power as mass communicators to make you think that all is lost, so that voting for the people who got us into this mess won't be a stupid as it sounds. Especially if they have to resort to stealing it again to get it.
Fuck the main stream cable news. Watch the reality of what is happening. Obama is still up in the polls, he still has strong favorables while the GOP is still looked upon as something just short of the crazy pervert uncle locked in the attic, with about a 30% approval rating (on a good day).
I, for one, am not panicking about November. I'm not relaxing, but I'm sure as hell not jumping on the panic bandwagon.
