I got a text message from the Obama campaign today.

I think I will send an e-mail -- and ask Obama how I am supposed to get out there and ask people to vote for Democrats when they have basically abandoned half the part -- the left side -- where the heart is.

Abandon your heart and before long, your brain up and quits for lack of oxygen.

President Obama. Rally those right-wing Democrats in Congress and pass some decent social legislation. These half-way measures are not very inspiring.

If you wnat to get out the vote, you have to get out the activists first. And most of the really fervent Democratic activists are left of the likes of Max Baucus. Ben Nelson, Landrieu and Evan Bayh. We aren't really leftists. But we are left of those conservative Democrats left over from the Neanderthal age, the pre-internet, pre-women's rights, pre-civil rights, pre-Vietnam War, pre-Iraq War types.

President Obama, inspire me with more than speeches. Please.

Put some fear of God into those who corrupt our government and our corporations. Indictments, please.

Caveat: I do not mean to suggest and do not believe that the politicians I named are, themselves, corrupt. But there was a lot of corruption in the Bush administration that has never been outed, much less prosecuted.

I will believe that the Obama administration is serious about change when I see some of those who made millions through fraud during the Iraq War in jail where they belong.

6. JD, that was perfect. Too late to rec, but here's a kick for other disappointed Dems to

read and use as a template for a response to those texts, emails, snailmails.

I sent that same message to OFA and several others including the DNC, DCCC except it was about seven months ago when it was obvious that we were doing nothing toward investigating the Bush Regime for war crimes and treason AND that they had already given the rest of the U.S. Treasury to the Pharmaceutical/Medical Insurance Cabal AND that they were ignoring gay Americans' fight for rights in favor of currying favor with the religious cultists AND that the Wall Street heist was still going on, etc. etc. etc. I did however thank the President for Lily Ledbetter and Justice Sotomayor.

Now they still pummel me with their emails and I dutifully delete them. Every now and then they'll get a nasty reply from me, but I don't give a fuck if they are listening or not since I'm doing like a lot of others and picking my progressive candidates and sending them money. Screw the national Democratic party. If they won't work with the grassroots to get good representatives for us, we'll elect them ourselves--or someone else who is progressive but maybe not even a Democrat.

And while I'm ranting, let me throw in that I am absolutely disgusted that the so-called Progressive Caucus of the Democratic Party is just as spineless and weak-kneed as the rest of the non-Blue Dog wing of the party. It is disgraceful when the RIGHT WING of the Democratic Party has more guts and more power than the LEFT AND THE MIDDLE COMBINED.

I was reminded just last week about the weaknesses in the health care reform bill. A friend of mine was worried because her daughter-in-law is pregnant and has no health insurance. The daughter-in-law had an infection at some point in the past, so the insurance company refused coverage. That's disgusting, and this "reform" will not help much -- not for this young woman's pregnancy anyway.

My friend is from Europe so I advised her to take her daughter-in-law to Europe until the baby is born. She won't be bankrupt because of medical costs if she has her baby in Europe. And she has friends and family there. It is shameful that our kids have to worry about how to pay for the births of their children.
