As for my melanin-enhanced sisters and brothers in Arizona, I look on the new Juan Crow laws as something the henchmen of George W. Bush gave them permission to do, all in the name of "Homeland" Security. Fascist--and incompetent.

I hope we are successful in getting this overturned at the Federal level once and for all, but in the meantime, our Senators and Reps will have to hear about it from all of us.

is Native American on her Mom's side and has the same coloring. People often mistake her for Latina, Italian, or Portuguese. Back in the day, she was "racially profiled" while riding a bus down in the San Diego area. Her bus was stopped by authorities who went down the aisles looking at everybody. She was pregnant at the time and was singled out by them for questioning on where she had been born. :eyes: She was also refused entry as a young child to a restaurant in the South because they thoght she was "colored".

When this law was passed, Mom called me and said she would not be going back to Arizona any time soon, even though we badly want to go back to the Gradn Canyon.

I live in Los Angeles and have had some incidents in the past. Never mind that I'm half Norwegian from my father but take after the Irish, French and Native American side of my mother's family. Some think that anyone who has dark hair just has to be an illegal from south of the border. No way in hell would I go to Arizona and put myself thru that mess.

I had a prof in college who was from Mexico City. His name was Carlos Cortez and he was a blue-eyed blond. He looked about as Hispanic as Paul Newman. One never knows about what traits show up in different generations.
