1. But just three short days ago, both the experts and many folks at DU said, "Everything is Fine"

"NO! There are NO LEAKS from the sunken oil rig. Lookie here, it says so in these articles!?!"

Wow! In less than 72 hours, our REALITY has changed?

Methinks the M$M may have slanted their reporting somewhat, i.e., lied to us.

Unfortunately myself and a couple of other brave souls were shouted down here as perennial nay-sayers.

When will we ever learn that the M$M always distorts and lies for the benefit of the moneyed ruling elites?

4. The Coast Guard reported emphatically that the well head was not leaking.
They were wrong and those of us who believed them were wrong to believe them.

31. Curious wasn't it?
And I remember the tee vee talking head saying that thousands of gallons had leaked. Honey, it was hundreds of thousands. Corporate propaganda is alive and well.

14. Yeah well, us "perennial nay-sayers" seem to have a genetic deficiency,
that being the lack of blinders and inability to cheer for disaster.

So once again, "We told you so".

Some say they think it is just political gambit and something that won't ever come to fruition, and others just wave their pennants and do a backflip.

36. Ummm.... exactly what I did say;
"Damn... that sucks".

I had thought this was just another tanker spill. This was the first I've heard of any of the details. It tells me that we're quite literally out of our depth (well... big oil is) on this sort of project.

Thank you for addressing my consternation over this tragedy with such grace and decorum.

Care to compare carbon footprints, oh syrupy one? I live in one room, in Mass. I have no heat (and wouldn't use it if I did). My electric is under $20/month in the winter, and usually around $35 in the summer (attic rooms get hot...need a constant fan, Mr. Wasteful that I am lol). I don't have a vehicle and walk or use public transportation to get most everywhere.

Your turn lol. :hi:

And nothing like being lectured by the guy who can usually only muster up the energy to defend porn, rape and video games.

25. No different than before
any type of drilling has potential consequences (just like coal, etc.). That being said, its better to be doing it here than in Iran, and why should this be heaped upon the poor people of Louisiana and Texas while the much wealthier states get a pass?

9. the oil is expected to hit shore this Saturday.
:grr:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704471204575209843425073402.html?mod=WSJ_earnings_LEFTTopHeadlines

Despite these efforts, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration official told The Wall Street Journal late Monday that oil is expected to hit shore Saturday. If that occurs, it could create an environmental disaster, harming local businesses and further incensing opponents to the Obama administration's plan to let the oil industry drill in new offshore areas.

The sheer scale and complexity of the operation highlights the titanic struggles faced by the modern oil industry. Locked out of easier-to-exploit oil reservoirs by national governments in developing countries, international oil companies such as BP, Chevron Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell PLC each invest billions of dollars every year in scouring the depths of the sea for hydrocarbons and building massive high-tech platforms. But when problems arise, they're equally difficult to conquer.

32. New World Oil Production chart is out today:

Production has remained flat for the past six years. We are current at the production levels we were at in 2004 at about 73 million barrels per day. And this is despite high prices per barrel since 2005 relative to the price average previous to that year.
