John McCain is losing it, quickly......
from HuffPost:

....(snip)....

Yesterday Politico reported:

"I think it’s a very important step forward,” McCain said Monday. “I can fully understand why the legislature would want to act.”

Then, the Senator’s rhetoric got even worse as we learned from Huffington Post:

In an appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor" on Tuesday Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) offered a strange defense of a stringent new Arizona immigration bill that could lead to racial profiling. When asked by host Bill O'Reilly if he was comfortable with the possibility of racial profiling, McCain said he would be "very sorry" if it happened, but suggested it's justified because of "the people whose homes and property are being violated. It's the drive-by that -- the drivers of cars with illegals in it that are intentionally causing accidents on the freeway."

Say what?

A few years ago, John McCain called a harsh and similar criminalization measure approved in 2005 by the Republican-dominated House of Representatives “anti-Hispanic.” A few years ago, Senator McCain opposed Proposition 200, an Arizona ballot initiative modeled after California’s infamous Proposition 187, that was actually less threatening than the law before the Arizona Governor today. .......(more)

1. Does he have anything left to lose?
His dignity went a long time ago and his integrity went out the window with the 2008 election.

He is becoming senile and needs to go play in the sand of his desert home, or his beach home.

2. Why would illegals "intentionally cause accidents on the freeway?"
Illegals are about avoiding scrutiny by law enforcement, not inviting it by intentionally getting into accidents. McCain is falling all over himself pandering to the anti-immigrant wing of the Republican Party. He deserves to lose.

6. The fact that he (and his obvious diminished capacity) have not gracefully retired
is an illustration of his wealthy wife's total devotion.... to her class. They keep putting him out there and it has cost him his very dignity. Oh well, just another hired hand. When he drops (or gets drop kicked) the Phoenix elite will race right over his crumpled frame to heave a new poster boy puppet up for all to see.

8. Is that actually a problem, illegals DELIBERATELY causing accidents?
I find that hard to believe--why draw law enforcement's attention to you if you're illegal?

11. I understand having to pander to your base in the primary...
but I don't see how McCain swings back towards the center in the general election without showing himself to be a total fraud.

Of course, given that Arizona is now looking to pass a "birther" requirement to run for for the presidency behaps McCain doesn't need to swing back to the middle anymore.

14. There was a "Law & Order" episode several years ago
where fender benders were being caused by people of questionable legal status. It was a scam to bilk insurance comapanies and the actual bad guys were a crooked lawyer and a doctor who were giving the people causing the accidents a cut of the action.

Perhaps McCain recently caught a repeat and thought it was a documentary - though he must have missed the 2nd half where the actual crooks were found.
