Tancredo: Send Obama 'back' to Kenya

Tancredo: Send Obama 'back' to Kenya

Former congressman Tom Tancredo's speech at the National Tea Party was a misstep that gave organizers their only lasting, negative coverage. At a Sunday afternoon tea party rally in Greenville, S.C., where he was the keynote speaker, Tancredo stepped in it again.

Tancredo said Americans have reached the point where "we're going to have to pray that we can hold on to this country."

As for Obama, Tancredo said, "If his wife says Kenya is his homeland, why don't we just send him back?"

11. "Tom Tancredo says he is considering a ballot initiative that would bring to Colorado a similar law
backed by Arizona lawmakers that some say creates a de facto police state concerning immigration enforcement.

Tancredo, a Jefferson County Republican, said he has thought several times about bringing to voters a similar proposal for Colorado. The anti-illegal immigration stalwart has his hands full for the 2010 ballot, pushing initiatives that would limit gun control and require employers to use the federal E-verify employment eligibility verification system.

Those who support the tough immigration enforcement measure say the political climate in Colorado is not conducive to such a law. They say that while Democrats control the Legislature, it is unlikely that such a proposal would be introduced.

Immigrant rights advocates are pushing for comprehensive immigration reform legislation on the federal level that provides a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. A proposal has been raised for Congress to debate, but many say it is unlikely that Congress will tackle the issue before the November elections."

13. Truman was President
when I was born so I've been around. I'm not President Obama's biggest fan by a very long shot nor do I believe the Office of the President is holy, sacrosanct and to be respected blindly (Bush the Younger and Nixon, to name two, should have had their asses kicked.) However, I have NEVER seen in 60+ years such public, open and utter disrespect, contempt, crass rudeness and seething hatred with a disturbing undertone of violence for a sitting President. I think in President Obama's case much of it is purely racial in origin. These people simply cannot abide that there is a black family occupying the White House. But race aside, the open disrespect is just staggering and very disturbing.

20. I'd like a citation on that one, too.
I didn't hear Tancredo be precise on that point.

You say something like that, you better be able to back it up.

22. I wasn't paying as much attention as I wish I had.
I just finished a big project, and my mind is still refried beans.

In the extreme outside chance that Michelle said something like that, she really made a big mistake. I would understand what she meant, but a First Lady just can't say that kind of stuff in today's atmosphere. She's just too smart to make that kind of remark, IMHO.

I have more interest in news from my ancestral lands, have visited one and plan to visit the others before I'm gone (preferably with my cousins). It was odd, but I felt more at home in the ancestral land than I have in some parts of the U.S. I think that some customs and ways of behaving have been passed down from my great grandparents and still rest in my psyche.

19. A kick ass response Obama could give
"As a matter of fact Tom, I was just heading there for a vacation. Would you like a ride? Somalia is right next door, I could drop you off there, no problem...you'll love it there Tom, it's you're kind of place!"

25. No. I'd rather that he say that he is from Hawaii and ask Tancredo
if he'd like to come for a visit.

There is absolutely no reason to emphasize African roots at this time.

I'm talking in response to Independent and moderate Republican friends and acquaintances.

Obama should stay away from Africa for the time being. However he might feel, he's a political animal and looks to the center.

The center likes Hawaii much better than Kenya.

Chicago is even better.

Chicago is the capital of the Midwest, or as some like to call it, the "Heartland."

Native MichiGoose, by the way. Love Chicago. The Seurat at the Institute of Art is worth the trip.
