Actually, you'll find several idiots at the link below, but I'm focusing on this particular one...

They were enraged about the growing costs of entitlements, the surging national debt, and everything from the bailouts of the banks to the new health care law.

Early yesterday morning, Valerie and Rob Shirk corralled their 10 home-schooled children into their van for the 2 1/2-hour drive from their home in Connecticut to Boston, arriving just in time to hear Sarah Palin denounce government-run health care at the tea party movement rally on Boston Common.

They thought it would be a learning opportunity for their children, who range in age from 9 months to 15 years old and who held up signs criticizing the government for defying the “will of the people.’’

“The problem in this country is that too many people are looking for handouts,’’ said Valerie Shirk, 43, of Prospect, Conn. “I agree with the signs that say, ‘Share my father’s work ethic — not his paycheck.’ We have to do something about the whole welfare mentality in this country.’’

The Shirks were among the thousands of people who attended the rally from around the region, many of them carrying signs with slogans such as, “What Part of Live Free or Die Don’t You Understand?,’’ “Don’t Tread on Me,’’ and “Starve the Beast by Tax Cuts.’’

For the Shirks, it was a day for their children to seek inspiration from Palin and the other speakers, who questioned Obama’s patriotism and at least one of whom referred to him repeatedly as Barack Hussein.

The couple, who rely on Medicaid for their health care, were also upset about the nation’s new health reforms.

When asked why her family used state-subsidized health care when she criticized people who take handouts, Valerie Shirk said she did not want to stop having children, and that her husband’s income was not enough to cover the family with private insurance.

“I know there’s a dichotomy because of what we get from the state,’’ she said. “But I just look at each of my children as a blessing.’’

So true. I remember having a huge debate with some 'anti-NWO' person, convinced we were headed into communism. Only later to find out, the person never held a job in his life. Lives off of, at age 30-something, his mother and 'welfare' (SSI, Medicaid, probably other things). At that point you realize the person has a mental condition. There's really no hope. Put the argument down and back away slowly. You don't have a chance of changing their heart.

7. they don't understand that the people they are marching with would take away
that medicaid that they rely on. The really conservatives believe that the government should only pay for national defense. In other words, the military. Which now pays for over 700 bases around the world which in many ways supports the economies of the cities and countries in which they are located. In other words, they are happy to support the governments of countries that provide universal health care, they are happy to visit those countries because they are beautiful and well kept but they are not willing to give those same benefits to their fellow citizens. Lord preserve us!!!!

11. It is easy to explain if one introduces racism into the equation.
White entitlements are good: medicaid to subsidize their little white blessings. Colored entitlements are bad: 'we have to something about the whole welfare mentality' - i.e. lazy non-white people.

If there is some other explanation that works better, let me know.

Let's be clear. About a quarter of the American public is simply too stupid to function. They need harnesses, round-edge scissors, and safety helmets. And that's just for eating their lunch. These people are hoplelessly moronic and I would say they're borderline retarded if it weren't such a colossal insult to the millions of people who have learning disabilities, but are also kind and loving human beings. The teabaggers are idiots, but they're also pricks.

And in the case of the Shirk family, they're apparently breeding like rabbits.

Write them off. There is nothing that you can say to these people that will change their opinion. There is no policy that the Obama Administration can pursue that will cause ONE of these nutjobs to say, "You know, maybe I was wrong about President Obama." Nope. Nuh-uh. Never going to happen. Forget about it.

While it's amusing for us to point out their inability to spell and their laughably incoherent something-that-might-pass-for-it-but-isn't-quite logic, that's pretty much the extent of how much attention we should pay to these idiots. Except the ones who are armed to the teeth, but that's a matter for the FBI and the Secret Service. For us civilians, the Teabaggers are like that pesky honeybee that keep flying around the picnic table in the summertime.

Concentrate on that friend or neighbor of yours who maybe voted for Obama and is experiencing something like buyers' remorse, or who maybe even voted for McCain but is willing to be honest about the state of the country and what needs to be done about it. Those are the votes we need, and those are the voters we need.

Let the Teabaggers rage, because rage is all they've got.

MY taxes pay for your health care, as do the taxes of millions of others who do not have health insurance, but our jobs don't offer insurance and you don't want me and hubby to have the same thing that you do that WE FUCKING PAY FOR? What are you, a member of Congress?

Now, don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying for such health care for you, other veterans and servicemenbers or anyone else, for that matter. I can think of few better uses for my tax money. But what I absolutely hate and cannot abide is your usage of such services, and your expecting me and millions of other Americans who don't have the same coverage to pay for yours while not wanting us to have the same thing. I simply can't wrap my head around that level of selfishness and hypocrisy.

62. It all goes back to Medicare. Sometime in the late 70's, early 80's, retired
military was told that they would have to go on Medicare, and pay for a supplement. Their free, socialized medical care was a thing of the past.

They were angry and sued the government. A settlement was reached where if you joined before 1952, you would receive Medicare and Tricare for life.

They are afraid that if there is a public option, they will be forced on it and have to pay like they do for Medicare. (I had one retiree level with me.)

It's in the Declaration of Independence, second sentence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

We could also argue the Preamble to the Constitution covers it: "We the People...insure domestic tranquility (people are much more tranquil when they know a minor disease won't land them in bankruptcy court)...promote the general welfare..."

There are at least two in that article who drove to Boston to oppose social spending while they're attending STATE COLLEGES! Hey goofy! Your college education is subsidized by taxpayers. Why don't you practice what you preach and attend private colleges?

Then, there's the hose queen with the 10 kids who came to bitch about health care reform. Her 10 'blessings' are covered under MEDICAID. Hello McFly! Is anyone in there? In the article, she comes across as one of those good Catholics who think their priests, bishops and pope know more about married life and parenthood, even though they are celibate and not allowed to marry.

Teapartiers should change their name to something that more accurately describes them. How about Hypocrites 'R Us?

On the 15th there was a teabag rally in front of the Fayetteville, NC, post office. They were protesting taxation. The head of the Cumberland County Republican Party (his name is Ralph Reagan, and I swear to God, Buddha, Allah, Cthulhu and the Flying Spaghetti Monster I did not make that up) announced the day before the rally he was going to bring a huge sign that said "no tax is a good tax."

In case any of you are unaware of exactly what is sitting on the northwest side of this hellhole, Fayetteville, NC is the bedroom community for Fort Bragg. GlobalSecurity.org estimates there are around 43,000 soldiers (by the time all the realignment is finished about one of every 10 soldiers in the army will be stationed here) and 8000 civilians employed on base, plus a very large number of people who work for or own companies that are dependent on Fort Bragg and the military. The economic impact of that base to this area, if military spending and personal purchases made by base-connected people are combined, is over $6 billion. And every penny comes from taxes.

I kinda wish I had access to a tractor-trailer and about $5000 for a wrap...what SOMEONE needs to do is to get a 53-foot trailer, wrap it with "Freedom Is Not Free - Taxes Pay For It" and park it right across from the next Fayetteville teabag rally. I was first thinking bumper stickers and banners, but nothing says "you guys are morans" like a rolling billboard.

I can't trust the teachers in my part of the nation to not try to indoctrinate my kids with right-wing, redneck bullshit. Besides, I'm more intelligent and well-read than any of the teachers he ever had, and my kids are MINE. This means I have THEIR best interests at heart. I'm not worried about 28 or 30 other kids, while one or two need (and never get) extra attention. I also refuse to subject my daughter (still under 2) or my son to all those moran's kids, who are just as stupid, bigoted, and intolerant as their parents. I know it's not the kids' fault, but my son has gay grandparents and he was teased incessantly, even by the teachers. There is just no place for a child like my son (very much a square peg) in their little round holes.

Besides, kids graduating from the high school he would have been in can't even tell you why Napoleon was important, nor whether or not Ben Franklin was ever President. Those who do not understand history, are doomed to repeat it.

We LOVE homeschool!

That they really have no idea why they are yelling or fighting against this or that. All they know is there is a black man in the White House, who for a change, isn't sweeping the floors but running the country. They are led to believe by many of these same wealthy conservatives, that their cause is a righteous one, because they are fighting against big government and entitlements. But we all get some entitlements at some point in our lives. If you are your child have ever attended a public school, a public library, asked for the aid of police or firefighters you are receive some form of tax payer service and/or entitlement. These people on the right like to think that they can live without government, without paying taxes, but the truth is if we got rid of these entitlement programs, like social security, medicare, and medicaid, it is people like this family that will suffer the consequences. They are just spoon fed this shit from people like Hannity and Beck and Limbaugh, who themselves have taken advantage of government entitlements at some point in their lives and some of them still do. It is really a shame how these people can't take a step back and see how they are just being used so that the wealthy elite in this country can save a few bucks on their taxes. Sad really.

The fact that a child is homeschooled is not a basis for a CPS referral. Homeschooling is legal, and absent any other basis, a report would not be taken on homeschooling alone.

By the way, I homeschool - and I'm a law school graduate also (non-practicing); so, I know my rights, and no one will hassle me about it (know the best Dependency Court attorneys, too; worked for one).

I have a job, am providing for my family, and want no welfare. But it is nice to know that it's there as a safety net in case something ever happens (again) where I don't have a job. And yet I'm the one who is in favor of the government "nanny" state. I long ago gave up trying to figure out any logic with these people. I just laugh at them and walk away.

We require people undergo a written and skills (driving) test in order to get a driver's license. But we let people breed without any qualification that they are capable of raising a child or can afford it. I have long felt people should have to apply for a license to get pregnant. Pregnancy without a valid license would be a felony.

This woman should have been sterilized at puberty to ensure she can't pass her stupidity genes to another generation.

There is no better example that the more of a sociopath one is, the more the right they are. It's not complicated people. There is a simple battle between good and evil. Money seems to be the root of all evil but it's not the ultimate explanation. There are mostly a mixed bag of people, who care something about others, something about themselves, and very little about some things too. To the far right are extreme sociopaths. Focused on only themselves. To the far are left socialists, often called 'bleeding heart liberals' because some (mostly on the right, especially the far right) think they care too much about others. Those with the right don't feel as strongly, or at all about helping other people. So naturally, they don't want folks on the left making laws that forces their participation. They give tokens to charity to say they do their part and exempt them from blame. They may be religious, and hate that Jesus was a liberal. So they cling to issues he never even talked about in his life (guns, gays, abortion, birth control, living together unmarried) to say: 'see, I'm 'saved', despite being selfish, I'm okay. You on the other hand, who disagree with me on those things' (will go to the hell they've invented). They can't fool themselves. They may still be worried about being okay in God's eyes, but that too, is out of self-interest.

Clearly this woman is thinking about herself and her family first, and other families like hers (mainly because that promotes her case, that there's nothing wrong with popping out as many kids as you can, just stop when you have that Palin moment (ie. when you hit middle age and a kid comes out 'different', call it God's way of saying 'enough already'!). When you can't afford health care, get it from the State. Raise the 'all kids are a blessing' line, nobody would dare disagree, as they'd seem evil. Then carry signs being against, you know, 'other people' 'people who aren't like we are' doing the same thing on a smaller level. Oh let's just come out and say it - against single non-white women having even one kid out of wedlock and daring to ask for any help. Married folks with a litter? Planning to have more? Knowing it will mean more 'welfare' for them? That's different! The consensus in medicine now is that sociopaths cannot be cured. You can't make people care. That doesn't mean full sociopaths. I know folks who care a lot about things that are closer to them. But have huge issues with helping people in general. Prove EVERYTHING they say is wrong, go ahead. Ultimately it won't matter in the end, that's when you'll notice them start 'flailing'. The flailing is almost comical and sad. It is proof, they've lost the argument.

Prove that 300 million giving a dollar in taxes raises far more than a few thousand generous folks giving $10 each. Easily proven, and why shared taxation over a huge group raises far more, with far less from each, than individual charity, and why 'government getting out of the way of charity' is the great Republican lie! Government is the biggest giver to virtually every major 'charity'. Win your debate (I've tried this) and they will just start flailing. Like Carlin said, how folks resort to 'f-you' when they obviously can't win the argument. "Life's not fair", "America guarantees equal opportunity but not equal luck" or whatever. They're so sure they have enough going for them, or enough family or friends to fall back on, they will never be totally desolate in need. ONLY then, will they change horses. Of course. Then they'll expect help. They'll say they will never take a hand-out, but that's a lie told when things are going okay for them. When one's survival depends on it, it will matter. It's like the infamous cases of anti-choice women marching in front of clinics, who put the sign down, and run in the back door to get an abortion. Because, well, in their case - it's different, they're not like 'them'. When they are done, they remind the doctor after thanking them that they're still a 'baby-killer', and then go pick up their sign once again.

It's not hard to win arguments with those imbeciles, the hard part is changing their heart, which is impossible. We have to realize we can only go so far in hoping to pick up support. Even in good times, the good people can forget. How else can you explain Bush getting enough votes to even make it close? Given how much better the Clinton/Gore years were vs. the prior, Gore should have had such a landslide that Florida and Nader wouldn't have mattered a bit. America got forgetful. I heard people say it wouldn't matter which one had won. How wrong they were. It's a battle and we have to constantly remind people to remain vigilant and stick to their liberal guns and trying to get their message out in a majority-conservative media. Sadly, we have to give up, to some degree, when the person we win the argument with starts 'flailing'. They're saying, in that way, they are not going to change. So you've proven they are selfish. They'll remind you they have a right to be. To some degree, it is true. So let us pick our battles. The majority can still be swayed. We need to keep them on our side.

105. If you want to find another group of hypocrites, try a membership drive for a farm organization.

You'll find a bunch of them who'll tell you how they think everyone else who benefits from a social program is a strain on the economy. The Environmental Work Group recently had a website listing all farmers nationwide by county and the amount of federal farm program dollars they received during the previous five years. Almost without fail, the ones who talked the most about why they don't need government programs were the biggest recipients of farm programs paid by taxpayer dollars.

The real topper was the farmer I met with who's in all of the federal farm programs he can qualify for, plus he has an off-farm job as a POSTAL CARRIER!
