American Family Association proposes that all children born out of wedlock receive no gov services
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 03:05 PM by ck4829
The rate at which bastard children were born in 1963, when Lyndon Johnson launched the war on poverty, was seven percent. Meanwhile, we continue to maintain actual marriage penalties in our tax code, including the newly hatched monstrosity of health care reform. So we subsidize illegitimacy and penalize marriage, and we wonder why things get worse rather than better.

And President Obama intends to zero out the one budget item devoted to strengthening marriage in low-income communities.

The place to begin? By reforming state and federal budgets so that we no longer subsidize immorality. It's time to communicate in policy and not just in words that in America, we expect you to save sex for marriage, to have children only within the marriage relationship, and that we will no longer force American taxpayers to fund the expenses of children they did not conceive and with whom they have no relationship and for whom they have no responsibility.

If you conceive children out of wedlock, we will expect you and your families to find a way to take care of the expenses involved in raising that child. In America, that child is your responsibility and no one else's. You may look for help to charities funded by private, voluntary, compassion-driven donations, but you may not look to government to force other Americans at gunpoint to take money out of their wallets and fork it over to you. We are no longer going to treat you as helpless little children; we are going to treat you as the responsible adults you can become. It's time to grow up.

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/afas-fischer-were-done-supporting-your-bastard-children

Why don't we just brand all children board out of wedlock with a giant mark on their face for life, right? I bet that would make them happy.

"Do you know why Lil' Timmy can't get SCHIP or go to public school?" We better make sure, AFA.

5. More...
I've always argued that one of the fixed rules of human nature is that you get more of what you subsidize, and we are going broke subsidizing the births of bastard children. This year, taxpayers will cough up $300 billion to provide welfare to single moms, with the average single mother getting three dollars back in benefits for every dollar she pays in taxes.

What lesson does she learn from this? Fornication pays.

As poorly educated as she is, the average poor single mother is apt to figure that the best way to increase her income is to have more illegitimate children by sticking out her hand to already overworked and overtaxed two-parent families.

I wonder if white babies count, or does mom get a discreet abortion, you know the appendicitis thing one of the Bush twins received? I wonder how much government assistance Bristol Palin is getting? Is Sarah paying her expenses? Was Levi's meth dealing mother helping out before Levi found fame? Enquiring minds want to know!

45. Back in the bad old days, white babies got adopted out and there was no "shortage" like there is now
Abortions were only for the well-connected -- back in the bad old days darling Bristol no doubt would have been coerced into having one by her family. The other girls in Wasilla would have had to have shotgun weddings or live with the social disgrace -- or for the truly desperate, a very dangerous and very illegal abortion.

The options were not appealing, as I remember quite clearly from my youth.

15. OK, by their logic
only women are to blame for children born outside of marriage - so where are the men in their world?

This whole attitude makes me sick.

I think it's thinly veiled racism because in their eyes, it's hispanic and black people who have children outside of marriage - not white people - and they're wrong about that too.

"we will no longer force American taxpayers to fund the expenses of children they did not conceive and with whom they have no relationship and for whom they have no responsibility"

so they will be eliminating those deductions for dependent children born in wedlock then? 'cuz none of them are MINE and i ain't subsidizing those breeders anymore!

:sarcasm:

52. Conservatives: Stay out of people's lives you religious fanatics!!!
My ex-sister-in-law and her lesbian partner went to China to adopt a little girl. They spent close to $20,000 to adopt her. If they didn't the girl wouldn't have lived long or would have been sold into prostitution. But right wing conservative christians would rather a vulnerable child be sold into prostitution than be allowed to go to a loving homosexual home. Right wing christians believe a child living in an abusive home with deranged HETEROSEXUAL parents is better than a child growing up in a nurturing, loving, supportive home with two same sex partners.

My representative, Robert Talton of Texas, tried to get a law passed that would have empowered state social workers to go to anyone's house and ask the occupant if they are gay or straight. And if they answered 'gay' then the social worker would have been empowered by law to remove all children from the homes. And this right wing republican claimed to be a Christian. People like him sicken me and give all Christianity a bad name. What is it with conservative christians that fill them with so much hatred? Robert Talton is just another religious fanatic who is completely void of any empathy or compassion. He has no idea what the teachings of Jesus meant.

I called Representative Talton's office and asked if they thought Dick Cheney's daughter, Mary Cheney, should have the government seize their newborn child? Of course they had no answer to my question, especially since I was talking about the republican vice president's daughter. But it is typical of conservative religious fanatics to want to impose their religious zealotry on everyone else, and yet also say they don't want government intruding into their lives. They are so extreme they fail to see the absolute hypocrisy of their actions.

If right wing christians had the chance they would turn our country into a 3rd century theocracy and our laws would be just as savage and barbaric as those practiced by other backward countries controlled by religious fanatics. There are NO differences between fundamentalist christians and Al Qaeda. Both will use any means to achieve their evil ends. And both want to oppress the will and freedoms of everyone who does not believe as they do, which includes all the sane people in the world.

Representative Robert Talton of Texas should do the honorable thing and resign. He is a disgrace and a danger to society and our country. And if soulless creatures like him were given the chance that precious little Chinese girl would have been probably been sold into prostitution at the age of 5, instead of living in a supportive, loving home with two wonderful women. Perhaps Talton should read the Bible until he figures out what love means. And perhaps he should "take the plank out of his own eye, before trying to remove the splinter from another's".

Right wing christianity is absolute evil.
