The Wisdom Of Mike Fuckabee
Even civil unions are “not necessary,” Huckabee said. “I think there’s been a real level of being disingenuous on the part of the gay and lesbian community with their goal of civil unions,” he alleged, referring to LGBT activists who first claimed that their goal in several states was to enact civil unions, but subsequently launched efforts to implement full marriage rights.

Huckabee went on to draw parallels between homosexuality and other lifestyles that are considered by some to be morally aberrant. “You don’t go ahead and accommodate every behavioral pattern that is against the ideal,” he said of same-sex marriage. “That would be like saying, well, there are a lot of people who like to use drugs, so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want who use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, so we should accommodate them.”

Huckabee also insisted that same-sex couples shouldn’t be allowed to adopt or become foster parents because they’re somehow unfit to take care of children:

“I think this is not about trying to create statements for people who want to change the basic fundamental definitions of family,” Huckabee said. “And always we should act in the best interest of the children, not in the seeming interest of the adults.”

“Children are not puppies,” he continued. “This is not a time to see if we can experiment and find out, how does this work?”

1. My ex sister in law saved a Chinese girl from certain death, against a republican's wishes...
Edited on Sun Apr-11-10 01:19 PM by AnArmyVeteran
My ex-sister-in-law and her lesbian partner went to China to adopt a little girl. They spent close to $20,000 to adopt her. If they didn't the girl wouldn't have lived long or would have been sold into prostitution. But right wing conservative christians would rather a vulnerable child be sold into prostitution than be allowed to go to a loving homosexual home. Right wing christians believe a child living in an abusive home with deranged HETEROSEXUAL parents is better than a child growing up in a nurturing, loving, supportive home with two same sex partners.

My representative, Robert Talton of Texas, tried to get a law passed that would have empowered state social workers to go to anyone's house and ask the occupant if they are gay or straight. And if they answered 'gay' then the social worker would have been empowered by law to remove all children from the homes. And this right wing republican claimed to be a Christian. People like him sicken me and give all Christianity a bad name. What is it with conservative christians that fill them with so much hatred? Robert Talton is just another religious fanatic who is completely void of any empathy or compassion. He has no idea what the teachings of Jesus meant.

I called Representative Talton's office and asked if they thought Dick Cheney's daughter, Mary Cheney, should have the government seize their newborn child? Of course they had no answer to my question, especially since I was talking about the republican vice president's daughter. But it is typical of conservative religious fanatics to want to impose their religious zealotry on everyone else, and yet also say they don't want government intruding into their lives. They are so extreme they fail to see the absolute hypocrisy of their actions.

If right wing christians had the chance they would turn our country into a 3rd century theocracy and our laws would be just as savage and barbaric as those practiced by other backward countries controlled by religious fanatics. There are NO differences between fundamentalist christians and Al Qaeda. Both will use any means to achieve their evil ends. And both want to oppress the will and freedoms of everyone who does not believe as they do, which includes all the sane people in the world.

Representative Robert Talton of Texas should do the honorable thing and resign. He is a disgrace and a danger to society and our country. And if soulless creatures like him were given the chance that precious little Chinese girl would have been probably been sold into prostitution at the age of 5, instead of living in a supportive, loving home with two wonderful women. Perhaps Talton should read the Bible until he figures out what love means. And perhaps he should "take the plank out of his own eye, before trying to remove the splinter from another's".

Right wing christianity is absolute evil.

2. Sauce For The Gander
perhaps I consider your lifestyle to be morally aberrant, Governor. How about that? Maybe I don't think extreme right wing Christians should be able to adopt or raise children if they are going to bring up these kids to have narrow minded and bigoted views.

Maybe I don't think it's in the best interests of a child to force it to go to Church every Sunday or to Home School them.

3. "Huckabee went on to draw parallels...."
Again with the false equivalencies - no matter how outrageous.

I think this is a game the Dems need to learn to play. We could start with (R) proposals that align with the things Hitler, Mao, Mussolini and other fascists and dictators believed or actually implemented. I don't think we'd run out of material for decades.
