Anti-war Activist Sheehan Blasts Bishop-elect
A well-known anti-war activist paid a visit to Scranton Friday.

Cindy Sheehan spoke to her supporters, but had a hard time finding a place to do so.

Sheehan has taken her protests against America's wars to more than 50 cities in the U.S. but Friday she said she has never had such a hard time finding a venue for her rally, as she has in Scranton.

Sheehan spoke to both supporters and detractors outside the Diocese of Scranton Chancery building in Scranton.

She discussed many issues, including the church's stance on abortion.

"We should cherish life, all lives, and it seems like my son's life, just because he was 24, was less important than when he was in the womb," Sheehan told those gathered.

Sheehan is known for her protests and vigils outside former President George W. Bush's ranch in Texas after the death of her son in the war in Iraq in 2004.

In Scranton she spoke to dozens of people, including one man who cut her off. "I didn't leave the Catholic church seven years ago, the church left me," Sheehan said.

"I've heard enough, bye!" the man responded.

She had a hard time finding a venue for her speech in Scranton. She was first denied by the Catholic church and then at the Electric Theatre Company. Their lawyer said her speech was too political.
