Leinenkugel Shocks Voters With Potential Republican US Senate (WI - vs Feingold) Candidacy
MILWAUKEE -- Dick Leinenkugel of the Doyle administration shocked many when he reportedly announced he is running for U.S. Senate as a Republican.

When Commerce Secretary Leinenkugel announced Tuesday that he was leaving the Doyle administration, few people figured that it was to run as a Republican against Russ Feingold.

However, it appears that's exactly what Leinenkugel is planning to do.

Leinenkugel appears ready to take his highly recognized name, and move in a new direction.

Reporter JR Ross of 12 News partner WisPolitics was the first to report that Leinenkugel planed to join the Republican primary race for the U.S. Senate. However, Ross said Leinenkugel may have his work cut out for him.

"It's gonna be interesting to see how he makes the justification of why he should be elected as a Republican after serving under a Democrat for the last 18 months," said Ross.

6. Hmm, I mostly stopped drinking their beer when they sold out to Miller.
Now I have a reason to dump Summer Shandy, too. Bummer.

5. Might throw a wrench into the Republican primaries though.
Should be interesting to see how Thompson reacts.
