If the GOP and their base keeps on going further and further to the right....
how on Earth do they expect to pick up seats this November?

Have they ever thought that going further to the right will alienate moderates and lessen their chances of winning seats?

2. I think its deliberate
They go so far to the right it makes the conservatives in our party look moderate (and our left leaning people look like European socialists, which they're not).

Its a perfect deflection strategy by the PTB to keep conservatism in power.

3. The continuous drumbeat of conservative talk radio and Fox News and Christian media outlets
are the propaganda channels they are counting on.

Repeating anti-Democratic messages over and over and over and over and over.

Brainwashing is what it is. Pure and simple.

7. The GOP is desperately trying to cling to the voters it still has
which are exactly the voters that have alienated its traditional base.

I honestly expect the Reagan coalition to tear it apart completely and it won't survive. It's unsustainable.

Whether it manages to rise from the ashes as either a fringe party for lunatics or as a small but stable Hamiltonian party is anyone's guess.

8. They actually think they are being rejected by voters because...
... they aren't right wing enough. Yes, that's completely batshit crazy, but it's their mindset.
