December 13, 1636 - Foundation Day of the American Mlitia
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 08:57 PM by WeDidIt
The National Guard is in preparation for celebrating the 374th anniversary of its founding, December 13, 1636.

The Massachusetts Bay Colony Militia was founded on on December 13, 1636.

This is the day considered to be the foundation day of the United States National Guard.

Don't let asshole overweight white guys running around the woods with weapons while dressed in camouflage fool you.

The REAL MILITIA is WELL REGULATED, is called The National Guard, and it will be 374 years old on December 13, 2010.

1. I am a member of the well-regulated militia
I have no insignia, rank, or commanding officer, nor do I need any of the above.

I am regulated by my adherence to local, state, and Federal laws.

I am regulated by my responsibility to society as a whole, displayed by serving as an election judge, serving on juries when called, etc.

The security and stability of this nation is my responsibility as much as it is yours and every other DUer's.

I am a member of the well-regulated militia.

So if you want a gun, take your hands off of mine and go buy your own.

Peace, Salaam, Shalom.

2. If you are not in the National Guard, you are NOT a member of a well regulated militia
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 09:06 PM by WeDidIt
The ONLY WELL REGULATED MILITIA in the United States of America is the National Guard.

Anything else is just a wannabe.

There is ONE militia organization in the US. It's called the National Guard.

9. "Ignorance is a curable disease but stupidity is a terminal illness." You can heal yourself by
locating relevant law on federal and state militia and reading them. They are so simple even elementary students can understand them.

10. And federal law organized state militas into a single organization
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 09:48 PM by WeDidIt
The National Guard.

Federal law trumps ALL state law.

You need to educate yourself.

3. Sorry but you are 100% wrong. The militia consists of the unorganized and organized components. All
men between 17-45 with some exceptions are members of that militia.

Sadly, congress is derelict in its duty under Article I, Section 8, Clause 16 requiring it to organize, arm, and discipline the "unorganized militia" with trivial exceptions of state units most of which are members of the State Guard Association of the United States

5. WRONG!
The Militia Act of 1903 defines what is a militia, and that is the National Guard.

All others are just wannabes.

There's no such thing as "unorganized militias" under the Militia Act of 1903. There is only the National Guard.

7. Look up the relevant law and educate yourself. Since you are so adamant in your claim, surely you
know how to locate, read, and understand law.

Moreover some states include both male and female ages 17-64 in the militia.

It will be a good exercise for you to locate relevant state laws and educate yourself.

8. The law is the Militia Act of 1903

You're the one who needs to educate himself.

State law does not override federal law.

11. OK, I'll do your work for you because you seem incapable of locating and understanding 10 USC 311.
§ 311. Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

14. WeDidIt where are you? You must read SCOTUS' statement in DC v. Heller to further your education.
Date 26 June 2008
Held:

1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Pp. 2–53.

(a) The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that it connotes an individual right to keep and bear arms. Pp. 2–22.

(b) The prefatory clause comports with the Court’s interpretation of the operative clause. The “militia” comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. The Antifederalists feared that the Federal Government would disarm the people in order to disable this citizens’ militia, enabling a politicized standing army or a select militia to rule. The response was to deny Congress power to abridge the ancient right of individuals to keep and bear arms, so that the ideal of a citizens’ militia would be preserved. Pp. 22–28.
