Neither MICHIGANMILITIA.COM nor the SMVM have been "raided" by the FBI. We do nothing illegal.

WXYZ-TV (Detroit Channel 7) and WDIV (Channel 4) are both working to get to the bottom of Saturday night's police activity in Washtenaw County.

Both The Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia and the staff of Michiganmilitia.com condemn attacks or threats of any sort directed against our elected representatives. We also condemn those who would use these attacks to further their agenda. If you don't like your representatives, then recall them or elect someone else, or hell, run for office yourself. We also urge all representatives to obtain and read a copy of The Constitution. That's the real big effing deal.

11. I learned something under dubya's regime--not all the militia folks are nuts.

I dunno about you all, but I remember real well the paranoia that was running around on here during the last regime. Wasn't too long ago that people were on here talking about internment camps and "re-education camps."

I also remember (viscerally, I might add...) how I felt as a vocal union supporter and member when union membership was deemed a "national security threat." You can damn well bet that there were times in the dark of night when I was starting to wonder if the possibility was out there that they might come for my ass one day. Those same militia folks that I used to laugh at didn't sound nearly so batshit nuts to me in the midst of my fear of my own government arresting me for my politics.

I have nothing but contempt for anyone that chooses the path of terrorism, and I hold our constitution to be a precious document. I am not a member of any militia, but I gotta say I don't automatically view those guys with a blanket contempt. I don't think that a lot of folks here at DU should either.

YMMV, but it doesn't hurt anything to remember the level of fear on here just a few years ago. It also doesn't hurt to remember the number of folks on here that were taking a position of "lock and load" and "come and get me."
