N. Korea not linked to ship sinking
saw this in The Star this morning, as I sit here, reading the paper and drinking my fine Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee (hi malaise! :hi:). Posting as a follow up to yesterday's threads.

SEOUL-Military divers plunged into the waters near South Korea’s tense maritime border with North Korea on Saturday, searching in vain for 46 missing marines from a naval ship that exploded and sank, officials said.

The exact cause of the explosion was unclear, but North Korea did not appear to be to blame, officials said.

Families voiced their anger as hopes faded for the missing crew after the ship sank in one of South Korea’s worst naval disasters. Divers tried twice to get to the wreckage, Rear Adm. Lee Ki-sik of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told lawmakers.

Despite early fears of an attack, there was no immediate indication that North Korea — which lies within sight about 10 miles (17 kilometres) from Baengnyeong — was to blame, the Joint Chiefs said. Still, troops were maintaining “solid military readiness,” Vice Defence Minister Jang Soo-man said.

2. How does that comparison even apply?
It would if the South Korean government is pointing at North Korea as the cause, but the second sentence of the article - you did read the article, right? - says otherwise.

4. I agree. Countries with nukes are never framed
It's only less powerful countries that do (Vietnam, Cuba, Iraq)

5. I doubt SK would frame NK over this if it didn't have nukes
Seoul will be obliterated in an hour if the shooting starts even without them.

6. Friendly fire? SK was firing at "unknown" vessels in the area.
