Unsung heroes

This man comes to our vigils every Sunday. Without fail. I was just organizing pictures on my computer and found this. And I realized I don't even know his name. We say hello every week and I have never talked to him beyond that. Anyway, his picture made me think of all the people in this great country who are working hard to take it back from the evil ones who are in charge. I have met some absolutely wonderful activists in Crawford at Camp Casey and at national actions in DC and New York. I have met DUers who have traveled all over the country to make their voices heard. I have met Code Pinkers like my dear friend Midge and military moms like Tina who have been on national TV; both of these ladies make me proud to be an American in 2007. I have met Cindy Sheehan and Ann Wright and Daniel Ellsberg and David Swanson and Medea Benjamin and Diane Wilson and so may others who work full time for peace and justice.

But this guy inspires me as much or more than anyone else and I don't even know his name. And I just love this picture.

2. This is probably the only good thing that has come from this admin...

it really has brought out the best in some Americans. We have discovered that we still love our country enough to take the time to march, to petition, to speak out, to volunteer, to travel, to do what we can to get our country back on track.

3. I was just saying that the other day!

I have met more people in the last few years who say they never paid much attention to politics until this busload of neocons took over our country. I have met a few people who say they never even voted before 2004. Amazing.
