Gawd. What a bunch of juveniles. Sheesh. SO. It's OK for THEM to use reconciliation and do end-runs around normal procedures but when Democrats do it it's a major SIN! Pretentious Hypocrisy is the HALLMARK of Republicans, I always say.

Too bad this little hissy-fit they're having doesn't mean we can stop PAYING them after 2:00.

Jeeeze. A roomful of six-year-olds would be more mature than this.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Senate Republicans fuming over the passage of health care reform are now refusing to work past 2 p.m. -- a tactic they can employ by invoking a little-known Senate rule.

On Wednesday, the Judiciary Committee was forced to cancel a hearing as was the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) tweeted today : "Disappointed. Rs refusing to allow hearings today. Had to cancel my oversight hearing on police training contracts in Afghanistan."

Sen. Mark Udall also complained that he had to delay a hearing on the cause of Western forest fires.

Making good on Sen. John McCain's threat to withhold all Republican cooperation from Democrats in the Senate in retribution for the majority party using reconciliation to pass health care reform, the GOP used the rule that states committees can only meet when the chamber is in session with the unanimous consent of all members. That consent has almost never been withheld -- until now.

1. The health care bill was passed without using reconciliation
Reconciliation is only being used for the changes.

2. Working to rule. Do they think they are in some kind of union or something?
I've never heard of capitalists working to rule or going on strike before.

Oh, on second thought, the Republicans in Congress aren't real capitalists at all. They are actually employees of the people who are paid by the U.S. government. So, I guess they can go on strike and work to rule all they want.

6. Turdblossom said there would be a permanent GOP majority and they believed him.
Now they think Democrats have somehow cheated them out of their birthright. Let them shut the governmant down. It will play just as well for them as it did when that pulled the same trick against Clinton.

In another thread I suggested that Democratic Chairmen should call hearings to convene at 4:00 AM
However, I realize that that would not be appropriate ...

2:00 AM would be appropriate

9. Wait until they walk out, overturn that rule with a clear majority
that would have happened even if they had stayed, and then fine them for shirking their responsibilities.

Make it a nice big fine, too.

turns up. And they're not turning up for the GOP because they know their vote mostly doesn't count. This shold be the ad campaign for 2010, the GOP not prepared to work for their paycheck, when hard working Americans sure work for theirs.
