This isn’t a Health Care Bill - It's a Nostradamus Quatrain...
"I predict that in 2014 an Insurance Exchange will open..."

"And in 2018, an excise tax will be levied on premium health insurance policies..."

Well, I looked into the chicken entrails and I predict that anything that would benefit adult patients will be stripped out or otherwise neutered, while anything benefiting health care corporations will be expanded. (Actually, it was less reading chicken entrails and more extrapolating the Kabuki Theater called the 2009/2010 Health Care Legislative History.)

2. Yeah, sure....whatever, but.......
Nostradamus ain't your daddy!

Look, I'm fucking getting tired of the whining about this bill, that is historic,
no matter how much the Eeyores, and the fucked up media want to talk it down
(Republicans love that shit!)

I'll be goddamned if we, Progressives, kill our own chances in safeguarding Democratic
seats during the 2010 elections. We've already had the arguments; and already heard
all of the complaints like a broken record at this point,
and it is now time to sell the good shit in this bill to every single person out there.

I've noticed that while progressives were busy fighting about single payer vs. a P.O.
all through the summer, trash talking our President, and finding Teabaggers "entertaining", we didn't get out there, and the Teabaggers with the help of their media actually kicked
our ass as far as being out front.

This can't happen again for other policy proposals, and it certainly can't happen for the 2010 elections, or we ain't getting shit else, small, little or whatever.

We are dealing with Republicans who are willing to let people kill each other in the streets rather than do anything to make this President look good, and a media that ain't playing either. I'm not sure us being at each other's throat about a bill that just passed is exactly our best strategy to making more political gain, especially at a time that we have Citizen's United to deal with. I don't have time to fight other progressives when what needs to be happening is us fighting these funky ass Republicans.

We progressives love to debate the minutia, but when it comes to strategizing on how to make real gains, for the most part, we ain't shit! Some complaint about the Dem leadership, their lack of spine, lack of toughness with the opposition, but at least they know how to get shit done.

Didn't even get one day of feeling like we'd done something, before all of the naysayers go
back to the same ol' same ol' talk a lot about what should have been done, instead of what we
should be doing.

I'm ready to do something with this momentum that we have, instead of arguing about the same
shit over and over again, and doing not much else.

I used to consider this place an activists' site, but I'm finding that this is no longer the
case. Fighting each other doesn't represent taking action!

I'm joining the Coffee Party. At least, maybe they are gonna actually be working together
to affect change, instead of fighting each other to affect not a damn thing

3. You know, you also have momentum when you jump off a cliff.
That doesn't make it a good thing.

6. Love the passion! The overall message, not so much!
I happen to disagree with the notion that progressives that speak out with equal passion should in any way feel guilty, intimidated or out-of-line for doing so. In fact, I would offer that it is even more important now for people that object to the secret deals and the obvious lies about passing the PO to speak up. If there is ever a truism in politics it is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I, for one, claim a right to be a Democrat as much as anyone willing to ignore reality and eagerly join the ranks of the willfully ignorant cheering wildly for what they see as an epic victory and I see as tragic missed opportunity. I also think it is a mistake to conclude that all passionate opponents of this bill somehow have renounced or forfeited their right to call themselves Democrats. This is still our party too and we will continue to struggle and agitate if necessary to achieve truly progressive leadership for the party and this country.

Cheers!

8. Keep on talking.
Cause like the Republicans, you can't even give us one day.
After all, guess that as far as you're concerned,
we aren't all on the same side, and want eventually the same things,
just have a different idea of how long it will take to get us
all the way there.

What I do know is that some ask for it all and see nothing good,
while others ask for some and understand that nothing isn't good.

4. LOL, that is a great line
For legislation that needed to happen RIGHT NOW or the entire world would end, they're certainly going to take their sweet time implementing the thing.

Suspiciously, the parts that are going to have the American people most up in arms aren't set to go in effect until the President is safely ensconced in a second term.

I'm sure that's a total coincidence.
