16. Now that you've brought that thread to my attention
I've gone there and voted YES. I also notice that only one person actually attempted to make a coherent argument against unions, but wouldn't admit to having voted NO. It's very informative to see that a handful of people sees fit to admit - anonymously - that they don't support labor unions, but not a mother's one of them has the courage to articulate their reason for all to see.

62. HELL YES.
And I don't understand for one minute why the hell anyone (outside of the greedy corporations, of course) would oppose it. The one power the people have is their numbers. Without the people, the corporations are nothing. Even people like Bill Gates, with the brightest minds in the world, would not be able to accomplish what they have without their workers. Workers have the true power, yet some are brainwashed into thinking that unions are a BAD thing.

Some people are so goddamn stupid.

68. No.
And any true liberal should oppose union efforts to stop people selling their own labor as they see fit. Even George McGovern supports the workers rights movement - real workers rights, not just the right to be treated like chattell by union barons.

...

Not really, though. Just talking nonsense to get people to click. Of course I support unions, and laws that enforce solidarity and promote union membership. Scabs are a category of people that I genuinely despise. I'm impressed that all the responses have been positive. It's more or less a fact that a society with free trade unions and the legal infrastructure to let them function invariably has a better standard of living for the majority of people.
