So congress is six votes shy
That is what everybody keeps saying. If that is the case then who are the six that are holding out.

9. When I talked to my reps office he said "Nancy has it"
and then went on to say that leadership was collecting extra "Yes" votes so that several reps in tight races wouldn't have to cast a "Yes" vote. That was at a little after Noon today.

14. Not only is he a YES, he kicked Laura INGRAHAM's ass last night!1
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7962914
My e-ltr to O'Loofah & INGRAHAM on her assault of Rep.GUTIERREZ over his Yes, which he survived

She was subbing for O'LOOFAH and introduced U.S. Representative Luis GUTIERREZ of Chicago by saying that accepting deals for congressional votes is illegal, then launched into a volley of repeating, "What did you get to change your vote?!1"

He parried all the repetitions. Then she framed it from another angle, saying that he had been sharing the Hispanic objections to HCR because of the immigration-unfriendly provisions in it, so, IS THAT WHAT HE GOT, something on immigration reform?!1

On that point he eventually got down to saying he is now convinced that the President and the SHUMER-GRAHAM initiative show a commitment from the Administration to upping the priority of immigration reform.

She kept attempting to distract him by interrupting his every other word, but he wore her down by just keeping talking.

Finally, she ended up playing her second best cheap trick, asking, "Are you a Catholic?! Do you accept the primacy of the pope?!1" Presumably, she was trying to loop him into the anti-Choice gang.

He said his Catholic faith is one of the most important things in his life, but that his public policy decisions are independent on church-state-separation grounds.

One of the eternal questions about INGRAHAM is that she has never ever, from Day 1 of her conversion to Catholicism, or, rather, NOVAKula's sect of it (along with BORK, BROWNBACK, GINGRICH, E. Howard HUNT, and all the other high powered Spook converts), shown ANY of the Jesus virtues of humility or spirituality, so, what has SHE traded her soul for?!1

As for what her FIRST best cheap trick would be, why, like back when she crawled on all fours across barroom floors, she could EASILY be imagined to perform CHEENEE torture interrogations in which she would TERRORIZE the targets by stripping nekkid to violate their religious modesty.

Oh, look!1 She persecuted Gays!1 Oh, look, her brother is Gay AND she has reconciled with him and moderated her persecution of Gays!1 Oh, look, she dated Robert TORICELLI *and* ----WHOOPS!1-----Keith!1

Personal
Ingraham once was engaged to conservative author and fellow Dartmouth alumnus Dinesh D'Souza and has dated former New Jersey Democratic Senator Robert Torricelli,<17> as well as briefly dating MSNBC host Keith Olbermann.<18>

She was estranged from her brother, Curtis, for many years. In 1997, however, she wrote in the Washington Post that she and her brother had reconciled after he came out as gay, and that getting to know him and his partner had tempered her personal views on homosexuality.<19>

In April 2005, she announced that she was engaged to businessman James V. Reyes, with a wedding planned in May or June 2005. On April 26, 2005, she announced that she had undergone breast cancer surgery. On May 11, 2005, Ingraham told listeners that her engagement to Reyes was canceled, citing issues regarding her diagnosis with breast cancer. Despite the breakup, she maintained that the two remain good friends and had told listeners, in 2006, that she was in good health.<20>

She is a convert to Roman Catholicism. In May 2008, Ingraham began proceedings to adopt a young girl from Guatemala, whom she has named Maria Caroline.<21>

6. What happens if someone votes 'present'?
Would that have the same net effect as a 'no' vote?

I'm serious. With all the waffling going on I wouldn't be surprised if some tried to do this.

Thanks for being a dick.

16. I think some sort of deal will be worked out with Stupak's allies
There are negotitaions taking place today. The only way to pass the bill would be perhaps by accomodating those members in some way. I think Pelosi and Obama and Reid will find a way to somehow get them to switch to Yes.
