Blue Dog Jason Altmire(PA - SW) voting No on Health Care
Edited on Fri Mar-19-10 04:33 PM by RamboLiberal
Fuck him! He's not in my district but I did contribute to his campaign to defeat Melissa Hart. Wish a good Dem would step up and primary his ass. And if not I might be wishing for Mary Beth Buchanan to defeat him - Michelle Bachman could use some company in the looney Repuke camp.

He was health insurance lobbyist so I guess no surprise.

Congressman Jason Altmire will vote against the latest version of health care reform when the U.S. House of Representatives votes on the bill this weekend.

Altmire confirmed that he has decided to vote no in a telephone conversation with KDKA Political Editor Jon Delano.

The McCandless Democrat posted a statement on his website explaining his vote.

"I regret that this year-long process of debating health care reform has resulted in a final product that I cannot support," he said. "The cost of inaction on health care is great, but it would be an even bigger mistake to pass a bill that could compound the problem of skyrocketing health care costs."

In a live interview on KDKA-TV News at 6 on Tuesday, Altmire said his constituents would help him make the final decision.

I got news for you Jason - your tea bag constituents that have been meeting with you and showing up at your district offices won't vote for your ass anyway. I think you just ensured you defeat cause the rest of us Dems here won't work for you either. And if you do get reelected I hope the Dems make you pay for this!

4. His only fortune is that Mary Beth may be a terrible campaigner
She already imploded on KDKA which is mostly conservative on the Marty Griffin show threatening to sue the host. Melissa Hart is probably regretting she didn't take him on one more time. I think Missy Hart could've well gotten back her seat this year since most Dems in his district and many from outside his district who worked their butts off to get him elected will sit on their hands this time. The Dems here are pissed big time at him. And this is also a big union area where the unions get out and bust their balls. They will be sitting watching the football games this fall instead of going door-to-door.

2. That's right, the teabaggers who's asses he has been kissing will vote republican.
He has to be the slimiest politician in congress. Buchanan will beat him easily. No Democrat around here will work for that slimeball, let alone give him money. Obama should tell him to go shit in his hat when he wants him to come around and campaign for him.

5. That makes me sick.
I wish I could have my previous campaign contributions to Altmire back. Right now, we don't have a vote, because of Murtha's death. Everyone was hoping that we could count on Altmire. Ha.

7. Oh yeah let's just wait another generation for any kind of health care
I'm not thrilled either with this bill but at least it is something and a foot in the door.

11. I don't expect to get any kind of health care out of this bill.
Just insurance, which I've already got, and which does not provide care.

8. What the Blue Dog said might actually be true, if kill-the-bill lefties are right
Of course the CBO contradicts him and them.

Who knows?

9. The CBO is pretty easy to game, to be fair.
We certainly used a fair number of hat tricks to get the score to come in as desired.

10. The Republicans couldn't game them very well when they were in power.
I don't know if the CBO is really trustworthy, but my eyebrows went up a lot in the '00s when they came back showing Republicans what damage their programs would do--and the Repubs just went ahead and did it anyway.

15. Exactly.
Having health insurance doesn't mean I have access to care. I have insurance. Care costs extra.

I don't believe there is anything in this bill banning deductibles or co-pays.

14. Here is Altmire in his own words.

I knocked on doors to campaign for Altmire in 2006. His decision is not easy for me to understand.

16. We need to identify all Democrats that are financed by health insurance companies.
