2. That depends on which state he lives in. If it's anything like my state of Mississippi...
then it might not be such a bad career move, given how heavily entrenched Repubs have become across the South. Trent Lott was the only Repub senator to win by large margins when many others barely held on or were swept out of power in 2006. We had a lt. governor Amy Tuck switch from Democrat to Republic. She's still in power. The only thing stopping her now is term limits.

4. well
it's Iowa.

And I submit that any politician, in these days, who switches from Dem to Repub is making a bad career move. The Republican party is clearly in decline, and I think it will be many years before it ascends again.

6. Wrong-way Pettingill
It amazes me how these people fail to see the writing on the wall. Only yesterday and the day before were stories here about how the republics are having trouble raising political funds. There is little interest in their candidates. Morale is low.

7. Kinda Like Getting Aboard The Titanic
...cause they promised you free ice.

Sounds like someone who wasn't a Democrat to begin with. Good riddence.

8. Typicallly when PA Dem. legislators have done this, they don't get re-elected.
However, as long as the GOP remains majority party in their particular chamber, whether House or Senate, the turncoat then gets a posh administrative job- paying more than they got as a Representative, in one case.

11. Where is your district located? Iowa may have a Democratic
governor and many of their cities are heavily Union/Democratic but for the most part rural areas are pretty traditionally pug. Farmers do not like farm controls.
