MoveOn Fundraising Against Anti-Health Care Dems

In a warning shot to wavering Democrats, the progressive action group MoveOn.org is making a major push to raise money on behalf of primary challengers to those House lawmakers who vote against health care reform.

The group is set to blast out an email to its five million member list Monday asking recipients to pledge anywhere from $25 to $200 (or more) for the purposes of defeating conservative Democrats who help defeat the legislation.

"Health care reform is in serious danger in the House of Representatives: with a handful of conservative Democrats wavering, we don't yet have the votes to pass the final bill," reads the email, which was sent in advance to the Huffington Post. "So we're asking every MoveOn member: will you pledge to support progressive primary challengers to House Democrats who side with Republicans to kill health care reform?

"With the big vote happening as early as this Friday, conservative Democrats need to know the stakes if they choose to side with Big Insurance over the voters on health care reform," the email goes on. "Our pledge will send that message loud and clear. We'll publicize the amount pledged, and make sure the media and every wavering representative know about it."

5. If Move On were truly a progressive group they'd be looking to primary
everyone who didn't support Medicare for All or, at the very least, a real public option instead of going after anyone that didn't parrot the party line and support protecting insurance companies.

6. I quit MoveOn when I found out it had major ties to George Soros
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 12:34 PM by SandWalker1984
From the New York Times about Soros and his support of Obama:
As for the U.S. 2008 presidential race, Mr. Soros -- the main money founder behind ultra-liberal Moveon.org -- who gave $18 million to Democratic advocacy groups seeking to defeat President Bush in 2004, said he supported Barack Obama.

George Soros, who made a $62 million investment in Halliburton,
Soros who bought millions of shares of Halliburton by the beginning of 2007, when the stock's price, under the constant political pounding, had been cut from a high of $40/share down to $26. Then the MoveOn.org, etc. political attacks largely stopped, and Halliburton's stock price began to rise. Coincidence?

George Soros, who is famously known for "breaking the Bank of England" with his manipulation of currency.

George Soros, who created Health Care for America Now - which advocates AGAINST single payer.

Health Care for America Now (HCAN), endorsed by President Obama as the coalition pushing his health-care reform, is a project of billionaire British-agent speculator George Soros, his Tides Foundation, and the Saul Alinsky counter-insurgency networks Soros used to ramp up the Obama Presidential candidacy. Though labor unionists will come into Washington on June 25 to rally and lobby for the Obama "reform," the HCAN organization sponsoring the D.C. events explicitly opposes the single-payer health-care plan favored by labor and by most Americans. The group was established in July 2008 as an adjunct to the Soros operations supporting the Obama candidacy. At the outset, HCAN National Campaign Director Richard Kirsch wrote (July 16, 2008, Huffingtonpost) under the headline, "Why Not Single-Payer?" "I want to take a moment and address those of you who have been asking why Health Care for America Now is not focusing on creating a single-payer health insurance system."

Gee, now why would MoveOn now decide to attack Democrats that oppose the Senate bill which provides for insurance profits not real health care reform? Who is secretly invested in the health insurance industry that we don't know about???

I put this post up last night on another thread but it needs to be repeated:

There is a group of the financially elite that has applied major influence on Congress regarding the so called health care reform bill -- it is the Business Roundtable.

There's a must read article by David DeGraw about the Business Roundtable.

Here is part of what David said:

The Business Roundtable is the most powerful activist organization in the United States. Their leaders regularly lobby members of Congress behind closed doors and often meet privately with the President and his administration. Any legislation that affects Roundtable members has almost zero possibility of passing without their support.

For three major examples, look at healthcare and financial reform, along with the military budget. The healthcare reform bill devolved into what amounts to an insurance industry bailout and was drastically altered by Roundtable lobbyists representing interests like WellPoint, Aetna, Cigna, Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson. Obama and Congress are trying to please the Roundtable with a bill that supports their interests. This led to the dropping of the public-option put forth in the House bill. However, when it came to finishing the bill, Roundtable members began to walk away from the process. That’s the real reason why the reform bill has stalled. Obama met with the Roundtable on February 24th, in hopes of getting healthcare reform back on track. After that meeting, he held a bipartisan healthcare meeting with members of Congress.

- snip -

Shortly after Obama’s inauguration he held a meeting with Roundtable members at the St. Regis Hotel. The president of the Business Roundtable is John J. Castellani. Throughout the first nine months of Obama’s presidency, Castellani met with him at the White House more than any other person, with the exception of Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donohue. If you look at the records of people who have spent the most time with Obama in the White House, other than these two, another frequent visitor is Edward Yingling, the president of the American Bankers Association.

These organizations - the Business Roundtable, Chamber of Commerce and the American Bankers Association - along with the Federal Reserve, a secretive quasi-government private institution, form the center of the Economic Elite’s power structure.

As I said, this is a must read article for anyone wanting to "follow the money."

THE SENATE HCR BILL'S MAIN PURPOSES ARE TWO -- (1) TO GUARANTEE PROFITS FOR THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY AND (2) TO GIVE THEM EVEN MORE POWER AND INFLUENCE OVER FUTURE HEALTH CARE REFORM LEGISLATION.

Once insurance is mandated by law, they will use their influence and newly expanded wealth to make sure real health care reform is never taken up again in any meaningful way. Nothing can or will be done to contain their power until the entire health care system collapses.

Don't say later that you have not been warned.

In my opinion, it appears we have a corporate neocon wolf in liberal sheep's clothing.
